Velvet Revolution Launches Massive Email Campaign to Jimmy Carter and the National Election Reform Commissioners!
ALSO...Putting Boots on the Ground at this Monday's Commission Hearings!

Velvet Revolution, a coalition of nearly 100 true Voting Rights and Election Reform organizations is launching a major campaign to bring former-President Jimmy Carter's attention to their myriad concerns about the secretly seated Blue-Ribbon National Election Reform Commission! Specifically, they are calling for James A. Baker --- the architect of the Bush/Cheney strategy to ensure that America's votes would not be counted in 2000 --- to resign immediatelly along with a number of the anti-reform partisans and voting machine company officials who have been appointed secretly to this commission!

VR is calling for the American people to send an Email webletter to President Carter and the National Election Reform Commissioners, demanding Baker and cronies step down immediately or, in lieu of that, Carter leave this commission in protest of the cynical and mind-boggling hoax being perpetrated on those who understand the need for true Election Reform in America!

The "YES to Election Reform! NO to James Baker & his anti-Reform Cronies!" is now up and online.

The address for the new Velvet Revolution action:

...Please spread it far and wide! And be quick about it!

Also...action on the ground at the first Commission Hearing this Monday! See this Election Reform Coalition Press Release for details!

And finally, if you have no idea what we're talking about, turn off Fox "News" and see RAW STORY's explosive exposé from yesterday on the Commission and its secretive, insidious, partisan, pro-voting machine makeup!

Spread the word! Feel free to use the "Email it to Someone" link at the bottom of this item!

Here is another way to let the Commission know what our concerns are (from the AU website I posted in #2):

What is the purpose of the Commission?
The purpose of the Carter-Baker Commission is to study the electoral process in the U.S. and make recommendations for improvements. Commission members will formulate more specific issues for discussion as they hold hearings and confer. Their findings and recommendations will be published in the Commission's report, scheduled for release in September 2005.

How can I submit comments or questions to the Commission?
All questions and comments may be submitted in writing to:
Carter-Baker Commission on Federal Election Reform
c/o AU Center for Democracy and Election Management
3201 New Mexico Avenue, NW Suite 265
Washington, DC 20016-8026
E-Mail: cdem@american.edu

How may I volunteer to testify at a Commission hearing?
The Commission has enlisted an informal group of Academic Advisors in order to identify hearing topics and panelists. We are also consulting with a network of advocacy groups and other non-governmental organizations with an interest in elections and election reform to ensure that all views and research are considered. However, with only two hearings and a limited amount of time for each, there will be many deserving candidates who will not get to appear before the Commission. We will make every effort possible to ensure that the Commissioners receive copies of insightful comments and suggestions submitted in writing."

Yes, Brad - "boots on the ground" - the good guys must keep moving and keep ahead of the bad guys. Will they ever be shocked at your informed PERSISTENCE. If they keep this up, Americans will soon be standing in the streets shouting for the resignation of the Bush administration. I can hardly wait!!!!!

Woops! I was just over at VR, sending my email, and received THIS message:

"We are sorry, you have already sent this mailing. Unlike the other guys, we play fair!"

Well, I do to, but I was under the evidently mistaken impression that my first attempt had failed (see #8).

The Carter-Baker fix/hoodwink is on C-Span now. Carter just spoke calling James A Baker his 2nd-best republican friend!

I can only guess how he feels about the American people, but certainly much less than his favorite criminal friends.

VotersUnite.org's Daily Voting News 'Daily Voting News'
for July 2-3, 2009

by Ellen Theisen

Co-Editors: Dave Klein and John Washburn

While the goals of the U.S. and the Philippines seem to be the same regarding elections --- fair and fraud-free, their methods are diametrically opposed. The Philippines is desperate to get away from paper ballots and automate their elections, and the U.S., having been there done that, is heading in the opposite direction.
