It Gets Curiouser and Curiouser...

I referred to Auglaize County, Ohio in the previous item as having the 4th highest percentage of votes for George W. Bush in all of Ohio.

The Evening Leader is reporting on some very strange goings on in that county just prior to the election when the entire Elections Board was notified by Sec. of State J. Kenneth Blackwell's office that they were being placed on "administrative oversight". No explanation was has yet been given by the Ohio Sec. of State's office.

The nugget that caught my eye was this report of an ES&S employee reported using the main vote tallying computer --- against election protocol --- about two weeks prior to the election:

In a letter dated Oct. 21, Ken Nuss, former deputy director of the Auglaize County Board of Elections, claimed that Joe McGinnis, a former employee of Election Systems and Software (ES&S), the company that provides the voting system in Auglaize County, was on the main computer that is used to create the ballot and compile election results, which would go against election protocol. Nuss claimed in the letter that McGinnis was allowed to use the computer the weekend of Oct. 16.

Nuss, who resigned from his job Oct. 21 after being suspended for a day, was responsible for overseeing the computerized programming of election software, according to his job description. His resignation is effective Nov. 11.

I've attempted, to no avail, to get more information on this story since the original report is not particularly well written, and offers quite a few vagaries. I couldn't reach the original reporter and Mr. Nuss did not return my call. Few other reporters seem to be looking into it. So at this point, I think it's important to get the story out there, and let the Internets take over. (Since apparently the Mainstream Media is more interested in Scott Peterson's hung jury, than the will of the people in the world's most important democracy.)

Buzz this story!

Good morning~I'm sitting out here in MN wondering what I can do to make a difference?! Why aren't we hearing about these irregularities on the news? Is there something we can do to drive the media into reporting this? I am absolutely convinced that Senator Kerry in fact won the election. It's the only way that all of these truth revealing articles on your website make sense. This morning the news smells of attacking Iran! When is enough enough? God help us! Karen

Here's something that might be of interest about Auglaize County: according to Ohio voter-registration information (http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos/news/index2.htm) and 2000 census and 2003 population-estimate information (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/39/39011.html), Auglaize has almost ninety-eight percent registration among those eligible. Even if the percentage of the population under eighteen has dropped dramatically since 2000, registration is still suspiciously high.

And Auglaize isn't the only county like that. Cuyahoga (the county with Cleveland) has about ninety-eight percent registration. Some counties even seem to have over 100% registration, but they are mostly the ones with rapidly growing populations, so maybe the new voters arrived after the 2003 estimate.

I'm no statistics expert, so maybe I'm way off base here, but it seems like an awfully large portion of the population is registered in some places.

VotersUnite.org's Daily Voting News 'Daily Voting News'
for July 2-3, 2009

by Ellen Theisen

While the goals of the U.S. and the Philippines seem to be the same regarding elections --- fair and fraud-free, their methods are diametrically opposed. The Philippines is desperate to get away from paper ballots and automate their elections, and the U.S., having been there done that, is heading in the opposite direction.
