I was so impressed with his letter supporting Congressman Conyers that I forwarded it as a 'Christmas gift' to numerous members of the US Senate and House of Representatives, as well as to many friends, professional colleagues, and others --- urging all of them to contact those in 109th US Congress who represent them.

Message being, stand with Congressman Conyers on 6 Jan 2005 and defend our American franchise of democracy from destruction.

Has anyone researched past objections, if any, and how that may have developed?

Our first objective is to find a senator who has the right stuff and will therefore stand up with Conyers.

I apologize for not having read Eldritch's full letter prior to my comment on the other thread --- I thought Brad's instruction to be sure to read it was for Republicans . Although I stand by my "they" "them" points, what was more important was the letter to stand by Conyers. I think he deserves Brad's award.

I eagerly await Jan 6.

I volunteered (through ContestTheVote.org) to deliver petition names to senator Nelson today but was told by a staffer that they would then just mail them to DC...pointless if he has to get them by the 6th. So I sent it by overnight mail. I'm not very hopeful, though.

Nothing we do is futile. Not everything will work immediately, but nothing is futile if you one believes they are doing the right thing.

Case in point: I was told (by many Lefty Liberal Bloggers for that matter!) that I shouldn't bother pointing out what seemed, on November 3rd, to be "questionable election results".

Back then, I was one of a handfull of folks will to speak up and ask questions about things outloud.

Today, I'm joined by thousands, if not millions in asking these questions.

Will the results of the Election be changed? Don't know. Has the fallaciousness of a "Bush Mandate" been spoken to? Certainly! Are chances for Election Reform in the future much better than they were on November 3rd? Without a doubt!

Nothing is futile. Speaking up about the *truth*, no matter how many folks are ready to hear it, is *never* futile!
