With emails like this (posted by crooksandliars), they're saying we're as bullish as them? All we did is put the mirror to the monster's face, and it went crazy. I agree that some on the left can be quite vulgar, but I suggest the writers at Oregonian go to a right wing site and try not to find any vulgarity. They'd have a better chance winning the lottery. If we're percieved as bullish, so be it. It takes some muscle to defend yourself against a bully.

if i remember correctly, on "Real Time" last Friday, Joe Biden said that the media played a big part in elevating the Swift Boat Vets lies and spreading Rathergate far and wide.

if each of us send email complaints to every member of the Judiciary Committee andyour own Reps in Congress demanding an investigation of the security breach at the White House, while at the same time calling and emailing and bitching loudly about the MSM's pathetic coverage of said issue, then perhaps one of them will be shamed into actually doing something about it.

it's true that the repubs are the worst kind of hypocrites --- because people die when they lie. the dems are barely holding on to a place at the table, and they are being meek as kittens about getting something done.

hold their feet to the fire, hold them all accountable, and encourage every person you know to do the same. EMAIL! WRITE! CALL if you really give a damn!

The other quibble I'd have with the Oregonian editorial is that they should have added, "If the election had been conducted honestly, John Kerry WOULD have appointed a new press secretary."

Des is right. Every Senator and Congressperson should get an e-mail with the editorial attached. I'd also put the following people on the list: Falwell, Dobson, Robertson, O'Reilly, Coulter, LaHaye, Limbaugh, North, Gingrich, etc.

But our emphasis must be on abuse of government power, not sex (except to the extent of prostitution being a criminal act, and the possibility that public servants participated). Questions needing answers:

1) Gannon has been using his alias for years. Scott McClellan says he just found out it wasn't his real name. What did the Secret Service and F.B.I. know and when did they know it? If they investigated him under the name Gannon, there would have been no public records, because his name is Guckert. Under what name did he first obtain clearance?

2) Has any other reporter ever obtained so many daily passes without ever asking for or being given a permanent pass? Didn't this arouse suspicion?

3) Does Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald have all the information about Guckert/Gannon for his Valerie Plame investigation? Does Fitzgerald have the same blanket authority Ken Starr had, to follow the trail wherever it leads?

4) If it turns out some reporter knows from a source how Gannon obtained the information about Plame, which is probable, should said reporter be allowed to protect the source? I'd like to read the Oregonian's comments on that issue.

It is not our duty to do the duty of the MSM. If they abrogate that duty the shame will stick to them.

History includes the blogosphere, and it may be far more interesting in the future, since it is a techno revolution in itself, and may be focused on even more than the MSM.

The history books will record that the MSM became traitors to the news, their duty, and their people.

It will be the story of the trail of a thousand tears. The story of the time the news died and propaganda replaced it.

The descendants of the MSM will suffer shame, and the validity of the left's journalism in the blogs will become apparent.

The artwork of Cezanne, Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Pissaro, Rembrandt, and Gauguin are not handled the same today as they were then, even though those paintings have not changed.

These masters were trash talked in their day, but not so now. Sometimes that is the fate of those who have the sense of an art form.

For those who don't read Newsweek, here is their coverage of Gannongate, in the 2/21 issue. In a small box they call "Blogwatch", is this item: "Hack or flack? Daily Kos diarists and Atrios exposed a right-wing wacko who somehow got a White House press credential." That's it. So, don't count on the MSM. We're on our own.

The only thing The Oregonian got right was this,
"Whatever the case, the Jeff Gannon story is legitimate."

The bottom line here is money and control. The right wing owns and controls *the message* through corporate power, period.

The easiest way is to copy the email addresses on the left four squares or the right four squares (there are eight total - but they are duplicates for different mail systems - so there are only four unique blocks total of addresses), then paste them into your email "To" section.

Then delete the first address, cause it is to a voting site. The rest are journalist related.

I could only do two blocks thru Yahoo before I reached my "hourly maximum", so I went to my other email site and did the last two.

It was quite slick and quite fast. Four hundred journalists contacted in eight or ten heartbeats.

Fair enough, Brad. I know that the right are the bullying champions of the world. There's no comparison. The right wins hands down. I guess it comes down to semantics more than anything.
