Found some stuff.. From what it seems, they want to have "federaly aproved" IDs to be used as driver’s liscenses too.. not sure I see anything wrong with "that" part.. saying that the expire date for aliens would expire with their visas.. not sure that’s germain since none of the terrorists were using "expired" credentials, were they?
What I don’t like is the provision for putting the fence up (not read that part yet) but I’m guessing it would get around the environmental issues that’s been holding up the fence (as I understand it, but I"ve not really examined the issue).
Basically.. I have no problem strengthening proof of who you are in this country. Problem is, the more you do that, the more places will require it (and track you since it has to be electronically readable), just like your social security number, which by law, is NOT to be used as "identification" but is..
Here is the part I have a problem with.. they want to remove -all- accountability for building that fence..
SEC. 102. WAIVER OF LAWS NECESSARY FOR IMPROVEMENT OF BARRIERS AT BORDERS.
Section 102(c) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1103 note) is amended to read as follows:
`(c) Waiver-
`(1) IN GENERAL- Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall have the authority to waive, and shall waive, all laws such Secretary, in such Secretary’s sole discretion, determines necessary to ensure expeditious construction of the barriers and roads under this section.
`(2) NO JUDICIAL REVIEW- Notwithstanding any other provision of law (statutory or nonstatutory), no court, administrative agency, or other entity shall have jurisdiction–
`(A) to hear any cause or claim arising from any action undertaken, or any decision made, by the Secretary of Homeland Security pursuant to paragraph (1); or
`(B) to order compensatory, declaratory, injunctive, equitable, or any other relief for damage alleged to arise from any such action or decision.’.
That’s part of the problem, if you ask me. I’ve not read all the rest, but I’d guess there are other problems similar in nature. Otherwise, the ID stuff seems to apply to "aliens and immagrants".. while that’s a slipery slope, I personally think we need to lock down our country from immigration anyway. Illegal workers cause American’s to not have access to some jobs (albeit because employeers illegally employ them, but) which contributes to our problems in this country too.. makes things touchy..
Na, Shrubman isn’t part of a "money hungry machine" who couldn’t care less about human rights or rules of other countries..

The electronic ID in the Immigration bill is contentuous because it would open the door for the citizen to be tracked; a serious violation of constitutional rights. One bill (I forgot the name) would allow by law to actually implant the electronic ID chip under the skin. GPS Tracking can not be out of the question… Both are unconstitutional and insideous.
Everyone needs to start faxing,calling,emailing Frist office to tell him we want him to leave the fillerbuster alone,we need to flood his office starting first thing monday morning,he is going to blast the dems with some so-called christians and everyone needs to let him know we won’t stand for it.Tell him to leave it alone,if he doesn’t it will not do him anygood to even think about running in 2008,we know already it won’t,but let him know or think he won’t get out votes.Do it now!!!

They are threatening the Republican types that speak out to block them in future politics (McCain is saying "leave it alone" and Repugs are threatening his bid on the 2008 ballot)
They certianly don’t give a rat’s ass about "us" complaining. It’s not in their nature to care about their constituents, they’re Repugs..

I think we are getting closer to mass demonstrations in the streets calling for the resignation of the Bush Administration and his Republican gestapo comrades. It’s going to be the most expeditious way to get rid of them before they do more harm (each and every day).

Thanks for the link to the genetically modified corn story. this paragraph is very disturbing:
"The scandal – the worst yet involving GM imports – centres around maize named Bt 11, modified to repel a pest called the corn borer. It also contains a gene conferring resistance to antibiotics. All such crops are banned in Europe because of fears that the resistance could spread to consumers via the food chain."
How much of this corn has been consumed by US consumers? Is it in our corn chips, corn meal, soft drinks via corn syrup, etc.?
Is this why antibiotics are suddenly not working?
Oh yes – WHY would they (whoever "they" are) modify a food crop with a gene that bestows a resistance to antibiotics ANYWAY? This sounds very bad.
I just signed a petition calling for the Democrat’s not to give in to Bush Social Security Plan,seems we are being too hard,and they are afraid of the public’s outcry,just another way for the ones we put into office to let him have his way.We need to let our leaders know we will not put up with their giving into him.
Well,I am back,just read a piece from Jim McGovern,dated 4/14/05,he told how he was one of the Congressional People that went over to Iraq,he told how in his opinion and words how they are no better off,how we are being lied to about the war,and at the end of his piece,he said that Congress was not being induced with fax’s,emails and phone calls calling for the end of the war,and that people were not in the streets about it and the only way the Iraq war would ever end is for there to be a new emotional dessent from the American people calling for an end to it.I thought people were doing all these things,but I guess I was wrong,I will start letting my congressmen know I want an end to this war,but to protest,we have to have a hugh amount of people for it to be effective.This report was from the pr section of the Velvet Revolution,check it out.
