Did anyone else happen to catch Amy Goodman’s coverage of the World Tribunal on Iraq, held in Istanbul over the weekend?
One of the speakers was Arundhati Roy, the Indian writer and a judicial panelist at the Tribunal. One of her remarks, and I’ll have to paraphrase, was that if the definition of "enemy combatant" in Iraq was anyone who actively opposed an occupation by an invasion force, "then I’M an enemy combatant!"
Her remark was greeted with thunderous applause.
