Another one down: Mike Brown resigns from FEMA
Michael Brown has permanently resigned, and Bush* approvals continue to fall!!!
WHO'S REALLY RESPONSIBLE?!?? WE NEED BUSH, CHENEY TO RESIGN!!!!!!
Force Bush to Resign immediately people, everyone hates him and hes become a casualty to the republicans. Then we only have to deal with Cheney/Hastert. Force him to resign, think about it: We can't impeach him immediately and it will take a while to convict him. We can't go after him either for at least 4 months until washington is cleaned up. Just pressure him to do the right thing and resign....
To save face, I believe Bush would resign. Cheney will never do anything like that but we can boot Bush out of there, and start shaming the R's!!!!
Example of letter you can write: ( email@example.com)
"Bush, I don't think you're Hitler or Maria Antoinette.
I think you are just simply a severely misguided man living in his own world. I think that while you have been worse than Nixon, you aren't as evil as Nixon and you have alot of problems.
I think you are a very naive man who tries to please everybody, including your rich friends and ends up doing alot of evil things in the process. I'm sorry George, I just don't think you're cut out for this job.
The one thing you were supposed to be good at, protecting us, has fallen apart. You've been listening to greedy millionaires and not the common man, that's why everyone hates you now. You have too much callous disregard for the disenfranchised, like they're not even part of your world. I believe it was your mother's fault. Whatever the case, to save the humiliation please do the right thing.
Resign immediately from office and go spend time with your family. The Iraq war is a disaster, and the War Criminals like Rumsfeld are going to keep making it worse as your approval ratings and everything else just collapse. We can deal with the criminals, and we won't have to impeach you.
You can get a better plea bargain and not have to spend all that prison time, or go to the ICC like Rumsfeld will have to. All you have to do is give up, and throw in the towel. Show you're a better man than these sick extremist bastards. Resign.
And hey, maybe one day we'll give you an honorary plaque for doing the first good thing you've ever done: Resigning. Remember, america understands.
We just know what's best. When someone is psychologically unfit, or dangerous, its best for them to go away.
That's what happened to Mike Brown, and you're next. Resign and none of us will begin to impeach you. And maybe there's a special prize out there, maybe we'll finally see ariel sharon and saddam hang!

Something, small as it is in the grand scheme of things, has finally gone right. One self serving member of Bush's "Team" has fallen on his sword.
We should not celebrate his down fall. We should be buoyed by the shift of tides and make sure that America does not once again slip into indifference while these people ruin our great nation.
Diligently express the need for truth and bring these people down.

Brown's biography on FEMA's Web site, www.fema.gov, was updated at just after 5 p.m. on Sunday to revise his title while working in local government in Edmond, Oklahoma, in the 1970s.
FEMA also revised Brown's role in emergency planning at the time. The revised biography states that "his background in state and local government also includes serving as an assistant to the city manager with emergency services oversight responsibility."
The old biography said "his background in state and local government also includes serving as an assistant city manager with emergency services oversight."
FEMA spokesman Matt Burns played down the change in Brown's biography, calling it "a clerical typing error that has since been corrected."

Second o.t. I have been trying to find any info on the 911 walk yesterday and can find none. What happened? I saw the start with a tight shot of the military leading off and it looked to me like it was a real small group. Is that why there is no coverage? Nprmally in something like that you follow up with a wide shot to show how big the event really is. That is what they do with the start of Marathons and other races.
If anyone has any info please link to it.

Now that guy will actually get the job done!!! Good riddance.
OK EVERYONE, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO....FLOOD THE WHITE HOUSE TO DEMAND BUSH RESIGNS, SO WE DON"T HAVE TO GO THROUGH ANYMORE OF AN EMBARASSMENT

I've been "googling" using search: "Michael Brown" FEMA lobbyist. I haven't found anything (yet) about your specific question, but I did find this!!!
IMHO this is a MUST READ!!!
EDITOR’S NOTE: ---incisive special report---The author is an award-winning syndicated columnist, professor of journalism, and a former emergency management official. ----in-depth look at the Bush policies----
Brown—who also had no experience in disaster planning, mitigation, rescue, or recovery—did have two primary qualifications: he was Allbaugh’s close friend and a fellow campaign worker who was active in Florida during the disputed 2000 recount. Before being named to FEMA, Brown had spent 11 years as commissioner for judges and stewards of the International Arabian Horse Association. Allbaugh left FEMA after two years to become a lobbyist, often for companies interested in contracts in Iraq.
The Navy turned to Kellogg Brown Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton, the oil mega-conglomerate where Dick Cheney was CEO for five years, to begin restoring electricity and cleaning up at naval bases in Mississippi. KBR has a standing federal contract, worth up to $500 million, to provide immediate relief efforts following natural disasters or in times of war. This is the same company that well before the invasion of Iraq had received a $7 billion no-bid contract that allowed it to control the oil fields, and then became embroiled in corruption scandals for overcharging and war profiteering. Joseph Allbaugh, the Bush campaign manager who became FEMA director, and left in 2003 to become an independent lobbyist, was in the flooded Gulf Coast, according to the Washington Post, “trying to coordinate some private-sector support the government always asks for.” Among his clients is KBR.

Scott Parkin was due to conduct a Workshop in non-violent action in my town, but was detained pending his deportation back to the US.
He is to be deported on the "grounds" of being a threat to Australia's National Security. Neither our government nor ASIO (Australian Security Intelligence Organization) will discuss the basis for their decision! This is a very serious challenge to our rights to protest, and I'm sure it's pure coincidence that Scott is very vocal in his condemnation of war profiteer HELLiburton!

Someone on another blog had a very interesting prediction (hope its OK if I borrow):
Katarina will seem like a walk in the park once winter hits.
Heating oil and propane have doubled in price from last year. A cold winter could see thousands freezing to death because they can't afford to heat their homes. Shelters will have to open to house the almost bankrupt home owners.
If Bush appears as a cold mother f.... now let's see how the american people will view him then. There could be uprisings in the air.
On CNN, asked whether the president has accepted his resignation, Bush said he is not up-to-date with the situation. He said,
"I haven't talked to M. Chertoff yet --- maybe you know something I don't know."
That's right --- HE DIDN'T KNOW!!! How can he possibly not have a comment?!! Doesn't the Prez have to accept the resignation for it to be official? This lack of knowledge that Michael Brown has resigned should be a story in itself!!!
I also heard on CNN that Andrew Card was informed by Michael Brown ON SUNDAY that he was going to resign today. If true, this makes this angle of the story even more baffling.
CNN is now reporting that Scott McClellan is doing damage control on the President's comments. McClellan said that the president WAS aware --- he just didn't know it was made public. This, of course, is pure BUNK!!
But wait! That's not all!!
The new "acting" director of FEMA,
R. David Paulison has been reported by CNN (through a blog) that he was the one who suggested to "duct tape and use plastic sheeting" a few years ago when preparing for a terrorist attack.
CBS has reported that Brown told Andy Card on SATURDAY that he offered his resignation.
QUESTION TO MR. BUSH: "Who accepted Michael Brown's resignation and why did you not know about it on Monday afternoon?"

Here's an important piece of the "what went wrong" puzzle and very important ammunition against the wingnut screeching that state and local government is responsible (and not their pure & innocent bu$h) instead of the Fed. government:
[snip] Under the law, Chertoff said, state and local officials must direct initial emergency operations. "The federal government comes in and supports those officials," he said.
Chertoff's remarks, which echoed earlier statements by President Bush, prompted withering rebukes both from former senior FEMA staffers and outside experts.
"They can't do that," former agency chief of staff Jane Bullock said of Bush administration efforts to shift responsibility away from Washington. "The moment the president declared a federal disaster, it became a federal responsibility…. The federal government took ownership over the response," she said. Bush declared a disaster in Louisiana and Mississippi when the storm hit a week ago. [snip]
It's a good article with lots of eye-opening facts for those who've been sleeping.

There was a good cartoon in the Sunday Sacramento Bee - showed Rove rescuing Bush from the flood.
They were being hauled up to a helicopter. The helicoper was labled "Spin Machine"

Thanks Bluebear2, i'll check it out.
The guy Bush put in charge of FEMA, David Paulison, was the head of Metro-Dade. Metro Dade was the first 'rescue' organization to use disasters to kill. They 'got into trouble' and were exposed for their 'work' in Latin America. During 1989 knowledge of their criminal, illegal and nefarious activities became known by every Minister of Health , every Minister of Civil Defense and every Ambassador to the United Nations from every country, in South America, Central America and the Caribbean. FEMA used Metro Dade's 'screw-ups', in military intelligence operations to 'stick their nose in' and get a 'piece of this financial pie'. Michael Brown was an incompetent 'horse show socialite'. David Paulison belonged to an organization tainted with using disasters as an opportunity to kill unsuspecting victims while offering to help. I can think of nothing more immoral.
Among Metro Dade's criminal actions, METRO -DADE was used to supply illegal troops and weapons to wars unauthorized by the US Congress. In fact, Congress prohibited USA military involvement.
How does Doug Copp, know all this? Well, easy. Doug Copp was UNX -051, at the United Nations International Emergency Network, during this time period. He wrote and mailed all the letters to hundreds of Ambassadors and Federal Ministers which exposed Metro Dade. Why did he do that? because he was tired of watching innocent victims being murdered. How does he know it is true? He not only witnessed and wrote in the smallest detail all of these nefarious and murderous activities of Metro Dade but DOUG JEWITT, METRO DADE CHIEF,AT THE TIME, OFFERRED HIM AND JOSE ORTEGA (ARTI MEMBER) MONEY TO BECOME EMPLOYEES AND JOIN THEM IN USING RELIEF PLANES TO SMUGGLE TROOPS.
Doug says: "Can I prove these accusations? You bet I can! I will, also, testify before Congress and take a 'lie detector test'."
Metro Dade is responsible for the death of many disaster victims; including, 300 trapped victims at Rubin Dario Shopping Center, El Salvador , 1986. Caroline Hebbard told Doug Copp that she had witnessed Doug Jewitt on a lecture podium, after 'having too much to drink'. He told the audience: " We don't risk our lives to rescue them (referring to people trapped inside of collapsed buildings). They are all vegetables anyway!(meaning the people buried alive are all emotionally shaken by their ordeal)" He was rushed of the stage and demoted (for telling the truth).
In other words, he informed the crowd that the people they were sent to 'rescue', people trapped inside of collapsed buildings, were all allowed to die without 'these evil bastards' making the slightest effort to save them.
Doug Copp quote: " I not only saw this but I saw rescuers, from other countries, who were angry about this murder and were trying to get past Metro Dade's guards to rescue the victims; being dragged away by Metro Dade's enforcers."
Metro Dade has a long history of murder, espionage and using relief planes to do covert actions. The USA Department of Defense has been their 'banker' for 'training' contracts throughout Latin America; since, the early 1980's.
Doug Copp Quote: "Do I personally know Paulison? I can't say for sure. I don't remember him; however, anyone who comes from such a high position at Metro Dade must have participated in these horrible and CRIMINAL actions. He should be investigated by Congress to determine his participation and knowledge of Metro Dade's covert military, intelligence and criminal actions. Ollie North got caught. These guys have escaped criminal prosecution, so far."
excerpt from www.amerrescue.org The ARTI // White House Document Prior to 9-11 :
Over the years, the White House has contacted Copp and Copp has contacted the White House. Phone records will prove this. During the Clinton years the White House Office contacted Copp many times regarding illegal activities, during prior Administrations, in Latin America. As far back as, 1986 Copp had cancelled a meeting with Senator Christopher Dodd of Conn., concerning these matters. Copp cancelled this scheduled meeting, at the pleading, of other members of ARTI who were frightened.
Copp has volumes of details which will create several large scandals if brought to daylight. Copp was an eyewitness to, observer of and informed of (by other witnesses) 20 years of activities, in many countries which ranged from 'murder' to criminal and always immoral actions.
Prior to 9-11, Copp was asked to create a report for the White House; given the private fax number for Andrew Card jr., the Chief of Staff, for President Bush; by Dr Kenneth L.Dupuy, a Republican looking for a White House Appointment. Copp was told that within 20 minutes of transmission the document would be on President Bush's desk. A copy of this fax was concurrently faxed to Bill Reeves, Managing Director of ARTI, 2001. It should be noted that Bill advised against informing President Bush of the immoral use of disasters and the subsequent death of innocent victims. My conscience dictated otherwise.
Copp was asked to give an analysis of the impact of the 2001 earthquake on the stability of the country of El Salvador. Copp went farther , than that, and opened a 'can of worms' about the morally bankrupt policy of using major disasters as covert military and intelligence opportunities. Copp went further. The White House received the names of the operatives. The names are blanked out in this posting. You must know that these same people, repeatedly, responsible for deaths of innocent victims, at foreign disasters did their same work in Oklahoma City and the WTC. Copp is willing to testify before Congress and take lie detector tests.
Tom Lang and his gang ( Tom Lang is the owner of the ABQ Journal. He has used his inherited wealth to detroy our rescue team because we 'kicked him out' of the WTC for 'bad' conduct. He has used his wealth, power and gang to get revenge upon us.)
Lang concocted a story that Copp promised to use his White House contacts to gain access to 911. This is a lie. Copp told Mike Miller, a Lang lackey (see peter Donahue's affidavit); that he would use his contacts if necessary. It wasn't necessary. Copp got his badge and other ARTI Badges through the NYPD. The NYPD Officer, in charge already knew Copp and told Copp that he was 'relieved that Copp had arrived'. Copp refused to give Lang and his gang passes because Lang's character; was such that, in spite of, Lang's vast wealth Copp removed him. Lang was the only individual, in 20 years, whose character and behavior was so appalling that Copp had to remove him. Lang returned to New Mexico and his newspaper monopoly, to get revenge.
There was a White House document. Copp and other members of ARTI have never deviated from the truth.
If you want to know more then read my fax; which I was requested to submit, to President Bush and his Chief of White House Staff, Andrew Card Jr. The Original Document is available by clicking on the ARC Red Dollar Cross.
If the devil gives you a strawberry ice cream it is probably poisoned with human blood.
