My, my.....how confusing your political system is...lol..!! How come all of the states in your nation don't have the same rules..?
I know El Chimpo's baby brother, your future Prez, came up with the "it's illegal to handcount" in the Sunshine State, how convenient for him, but what a crock of poop...!!!
I think you need a revolution down there......anything, to regain your democracy back from the ones who stole it years ago..!!
Please forgive my reference to 'your future Prez'.....I just wondered if the thought of that fiasco might galvanize you guys into action....lol..!!
Happy Mother's Day all you mums....

Thank you kindly for the Mother's Day wishes. I'm sick at the moment & so far have gotten bupkis!
*(NOTE TO MY WORTHLESS CHILDREN: Where's my breakfast in bed, my roses, my chocolates, you lazy, good-for-nothing sods?)
But anyway, you wrote:
"...How come all of the states in your nation don't have the same rules..?"
Excellent question and one that really needs to be addressed. It sure seems like common sense to me that we need standard methods. But this opens up a whole can of worms, I believe, re state vs. federal control. Not to mention the financial aspect.
And yes, I don't actually understand how it was legally possible for our Jebbie to OUTLAW handcounts. But I guess you've noticed that here in Jesusland, up is down & right is wrong (boy, is THAT ever true) & black is white.
We're having a delightful time.
"...how confusing your political system is...lol..!!"
No, actually our present political system--or the one into which we are rapidly morphing--was delineated quite clearly in a helpful & very depressing little list put together in '03 by Lawrence Britt in his "Fascism, Anyone?":
Read it & weep. I really must go & berate my offspring.

I posted a comment to Mike J on a previous thread which I want to repeat:
Sometimes you sound pretty reasonable.
But here's what I don't get:
If the left is making an argument that is wrong, as you claim, why then does the right, in arguing against it, distort & mis-state the leftist argument?
Example...Re NSA wiretaps
Many on this blog and elsewhere (and actually it's not just leftists who say this at this point, but let that go)
have made these points repeatedly:
A. We are not against fighting terrorism.
B. We are not against wiretaps.
C. We are against WARRANTLESS, ILLEGAL, FISA-IGNORING wiretaps.
Simple as A B C.
The FACT that numerous folks on the right have continually made and continue to make their arguments by distorting these points of view only illustrates the fallaciousness of the right's position.
Oh yeah, and
D. The president is not above the law. You may remember a few people on the right opining this in 1998. It was true then & it's true now.

Yes Joan, I too am a Floridian and beating my head against a brick wall. Most Floridians are clueless. They aren't stupid, just uninformed. If it isn't on the front page of the Sentinel, it can't be so - that can't happen here! It is a Repug state. Jeb is actually liked - his approval rating is quite high. If you scratch the surface though, you will see the dirt of his programs that very much favor the elite and of course big corporations, laws be damned. Sound familiar! I do hope November brings changes here. We have 2 capable Dems running for Governor, but...

My goodness......the Britt article was enough to make anyone weep..!! Each of those 14 characteristics listed pertains to the present state of your country......it's scary, scary, scary..!!
The two that jumped out at me the most follow in quotations:
"Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability"
"Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections"
Joan.....hang in there, surely the tide will begin to turn soon. Don't be too hard on your offspring...lol..!! Save your wrath for the screw-ups running your country.
