Blogged by the road (from St. Louis, Missouri) by Brad…
As we wait for the results of the hearing today in the Busby/Bilbray CA50 Election Contest (see this story on the latest absurd claims from the defendants arguing that the U.S. House, not the voters of California get to decide who will be the “winner” of the election) and as I prepare to meet today with folks from the Missouri Honest Elections group, this story was brought to my attention.
No, it wasn’t a “sore-loser” who requested the hand “recount” in Missouri’s recent primary election for State Auditor. It was a Republican. As we know, only Democrats are “sore-losers” when they ask for such things.
To underscore that point, the following quotes are from an AP report on the matter. AP never bothered to report on the requested hand count in the Busby/Bilbray election, or even on the fact that a contest and lawsuit have now been filed in California Superior Court! We suppose that matter, since it was a Democrat who may have been screwed by the machines — never mind that it was a federal race determing a new U.S. House member, versus a primary for a state election — is just not to be considered newsworthy by the AP.
Anyway, Republican Jack Jackson reportedly came in second to Republican Sandra Thomas after the machine count of votes in the Missouri Republican Election to determine the Republican candidate for State Auditor. Jackson received a few reports of problems throughout the day, and so — responsibly — has asked for a full hand count and, according to AP says, “Whatever this recount shows, I will accept…[But] right now, I am still a candidate.”
We agree.
“It sent up enough signals that I thought a hand recount was appropriate, and it’s so close,” said Jackson, of Wildwood, who currently serves in the state House.
Does Jackson’s opponent Thomas consider him a “sore-loser” for making the request? Of course not. Jackson’s a Republican…
Of course, Missouri has no idea what to do now. Does a recount mean they simply push the button to get the same numbers again from the same new electronic voting machines they used to get their numbers the first time? Or does it require a full manual hand count of the paper ballots and “paper trails” as the candidate has requested? Again, election officials find they have no laws for the new voting systems they have now irresponsibly decided to use.
The Democratic Secretary of State, Robin Carnahan, will decide. We hope she makes the right decision and allows for a full hand count. The voters of Missouri (my old hometown) deserve no less.

Stay on it, Brad! No one else seems to have the guts to demand accountability!!
I thought thought that loony lefty tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists were the only people who ever thought there was a possibility that electronic voting machines might not be accurate. Well, I say to this guy in Missouri – Welcome to our club! Somebody get this guy an official club tinfoil hat.
Oh, and Brad – You the man! Please keep on keepin’ on this mess.
Hmmm –
Republican vs Republican = “It sent up enough signals that I thought a hand recount was appropriate, and it’s so close,”
Democrat vs Republican = “Bilbray was quickly sworn in to the House of Representatives while thousands of votes were still being counted back in San Diego.”
Republican vs Republican = “Thomas … said she respects Jackson’s right to seek a recount”
Democrat vs Republican = “…. Haas refused to allow for a hand count of the ballots, as allowed by California state law”
Ahh yes my children – the good old American way. Remember the “Constitution is just a Goddamn piece of paper!”
comment #3 Bear power:
Left out Democrat vs. Democrat ie – McKinney runoff election in Georgia..whoops no paper trail.
No recount!
No evidence who really won.
Arm of the Bushit administration extending it’s silent tentacles with their electronic system of Bushit style elections. Sold to U.S. voters and paid for by American taxpayers – guaranteed to effect and alter a U.S. vote outcome in election near you.

Don’t you know – those machines are extremely accurate – everytime the check they memory cards they get the exact same result – much better than hand counting.
WTF?
ITMFA! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
We are sunk unless we prepare to have mass exit polls and be ready to stand up, protest, strike, and demand that all votes are counted and not by machines. They are just going to steal another election. They’ll quote recent right wing polls and dismiss the exit polls. They’ll flip the votes in tight races. We are going to lose if every state is using machines. Bush has covered his bases. I think Poppy put it all together with rogue elements of the CIA. Fraud is thier family business.

Chant #1:
TO THE STREETS.
COUNT THE VOTES.
(repeat x 10)
Chant #2:
COUNT EVERY VOTE.
COUNT BY HAND.
(repeat x 10)
Oh, and don’t forget to bring weapons and a gas mask. This one might not be pretty.
It seems we better setup some mechanism for an accurate exit poll November 2006. The media and polling
organizations will likely refrain from collecting the data and disseminating it to the public,.. so that the realization of the stolen election becomes invisible and almost impossible to prove.
It would behoove the Democratic Party to hire a well respected polling outfit to collect the data,.. so it will be on record,.. but don’t hold your breath for them to come through for us. The voting public and election protection organizations may need to collect the exit poll data on election day themselves to make sure this important job is done. Without access to this exit poll data a crucial chain of evidence will be lacking to prove they again stole Election 2006,.. like was done 1998 (Hagel),.. 2000,… 2002,… and Election 2004.
Old Turk, Thanks for that jolt to the memory. Hagel 1998, that was the test and its all been going down hill ever since. Thses Mutha fuckas need to go! NOW! ITMFsA!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s it right there. The difference between us and them! Something called honesty!
Does anyone know what has happened to Cynthia McKinney’s reported election challenge? I have not seen any follow-up since an annoucement I read on-line a couple weeks ago. I hope she fights it tooth and nail (literally and figuratively).
Oldturk –
I think Clint Curtis is doing something along these lines. Come November the disparties between reported results and actual exit polls could be big enough to be gapingly obvious so could be even more effective than in closer races of the past. I wonder how much exit polls cost. More than is in our piggy banks I’m sure. Also be carefull of people promising exit polls (The MSM) to let the general public off the hook then a last minute “Oh we had some glitches, sorry no exit polls” “too late”. We were all pretty familiar with that type of line long ago.

This seems to be the latest thing out there regarding her contest.
Sally:
C-SPAN2 covered an event the other day and someone said something insightful. He said, this time, the exit polls will match the voting results one way or the other.
He’s right. These guys are all about damage control, and you can bet if there are exit polls, they’re not going to leave any problems exposed this time.
Last time they handled the problem of having the “victory” margins large enough to prevent another “Florida”.
OT
Larry –
Yes they will be doing anything and everything to obscure the truth. Its pretty obvious when you can make the machines read any number that 1% recount triggers are ineffectual with the new systems. Why didn’t John Kerry suspect this in 2004. He must have been alerted by the bogus terrorist threat and secret counting in OHio.
When republicans started the “Tinfoil Hat Sore Looser” smear campaign they were telling people to shut up or be marginalised. Just the usual bully tactics we see they have a real talent for.
