The voters information pamphlet here in California is 196 pages long.
And it seriously lacks a plot.
How many fully informed voters do you think there will be?

From John's post above:
"...A majority of the House of Representatives has now endorsed HR-550..."
A majority?! Including republicans?!
I'm so paranoid I fear even to say this sounds like very good news, lest I jinx something. Small...not nearly enough...but still...very good news.
But...this is not HR-6187 then. Are there two bills now?

Joan--Exactly what I'm wondering ? Did you see anything about offering paper ballots in the hr550 ? And what about Ohio? Here we sit in Blackwell land, if they do pass 550 or 6187 what'll he pull to get out of offering it ? Wonder what is in 550 anyways.. Anyone know the details ? Did I miss it?

218 representatives have now co-sponsored HR-550. However, it will not be taken out of committee this session. That means they start all over again next year.
HR-6187 is completely different. It's the bill that Brad devised and has been talking about.
HR-550 does a lot of things. It adds to HAVA a requirement for a voter verified paper audit trail, audits, no wireless, and other items. It's not a perfect bill but it would help.

So HR-550 starts over, meaning they have to sign up as sponsors all over again; but now, campaigning at home, can claim to be supporting fair elections? Am I reading this right?
And what did CBS do? I skimmed and missed it...

I was surprised in 2004 when alot of my Republican neighbors had ALL gotten phone calls telling them to vote early. As the events of that election unfolded I came to realize that it was a concerted effort to get THOSE EARLY VOTES counted because the "machine cast" votes on election day were probably gonna be screwed with. So Dem.s, remember to vote early!!!!
I have a feeling that as Republicans lose this November, they'll be screaming from the rooftops about the machines since they are NOW getting media attention.

I am so disgusted by this whole miserable mess, the only honorable thing to do would be,THROW THE WHOLE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IN JAIL!! INSTALL AL GORE AS PRESIDENT,AND JOHN KERRY AS VICE PRESIDENT!!AMERICA IS CRYING OUT FOR HONESTY AND INTEGRITY,AGAIN!In my opinion,THIS would be our best solution,as long as these zealots are in power,THEY WILL START THIS WAR WITH IRAN,JUST TO COVER THEIR BUTTS!!WE MUST NOT ALLOW THIS WAR TO START,EVEN THOUGH IT'S IN PROGRESS RIGHT NOW!!WE NEED TO CALL A SPECIAL CONSTITUTIONAL CONFERENCE,THIS IS AN EXTREME EMERGENCY WE ARE FACING,BUSH WILL HAVE THIS WAR AT ALL COSTS,NO MATTER WHAT IT DOES TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY!!THESE INSANE FOOLS ARE LIKE RABID DOGS, LASHING OUT AT EVERYONE WHO WILL STAND AGAINST THESE POLICIES OF TOTAL DOMINATION!!HOW DO WE CALL FOR AN EMERGENCY CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION??I do Not trust our votes to set things right,THINGS HAVE GONE BEYOND THAT OPTION!!
