It looks like AP picked up on Fox’s “error” yesterday in labelling Mark Foley as a Democrat!

Late Update: As of about 12:18 PM, the version of the AP story I linked to at the San Jose Mercury News has been corrected. But it must have been what the AP sent out over the wire. So I’m sure there are million more examples of it still out there.
Indeed Josh would appear to be correct. As of a quick Google search moments ago, there were still several articles indexed as showing Foley as a “(D-Florida)”:
The stories listed by Google above now seem to have corrected the text in their online versions. No clue how many actually made it into newsprint that way.
Several of the outlets who ran AP’s original “Foley is a Dem” version now have this correction notice at the bottom of their articles:
To our knowledge, no such admission has been issued by either O’Reilly or Fox “News”, despite having run the most egregious version of this “error” (three times in total) during the initial primetime broadcast of The O’Reilly Factor last night as we originally reported just after it aired. They simply scrubbed the “error” by removing that title card during the later re-broadcasts of the program (the ones with the smaller viewerships).

“Foley (R-FL)” is probably one of the most common terms in news reporting this week. It is entirely possible that someone just made a mistake.
Fox I would not give the benefit of the doubt to, as they apparently did it three times and that network has shown itself capable of political work for the GOP in the past.
It also lists Dennis Hastert there as a D-Illinois.

Mark Foley is the subject/Feeney is the object. Info provided says (I paraphrase):
“Republican leadership knew about Foley’s impropriaties for at least a year and did nothing. Call Feeney and demand that criminal action be taken for Foley, who knew what when and leadership needs to step down.”
It won’t matter. Hastert is done. Reynolds is probably done too.
It’s up to the truth tellers to make sure everybody in the next 5 weeks knows that these were Republicans who are endangering children.
I don’t know how to spell Schadenfreude, but I’m enjoying the hell out of this. I hope the kid isn’t too messed up though. Since he plans to go into politics, it might actually do him some good to learn now just how sleazy it can be.

I got one of those recorded phone calls yesterday around 5pm. Then I looked up their website. The recording was basically the same thing that’s on their website, except added at the end of the recording was the message to call Richard Baker and gave his phone number.
Unless a viewer or reader has their head up their booty, everyone knows Foley is a Republican. The error will not get past most folks, and it is a rather stupid mistake (I hope it was a mistake!) on the AP’s part.

This was some sort of “typo”? Most of these “journalists” reporting on Congress cover politics on a daily basis, so how the hell would you not know the political affliation of Majority Party leaders (i’ll give you a hint, it’s not the Democrats)? When a scandal like this breaks how can you NOT know the political party of the person when the country is so divided and this election is pivotal? If you cannot keep track, get a different job or stop looking at yourself in the moniter and start keeping up on current events.
I don’t know what upsets me more:
1. Fox’s “mistake” (if you did not think they were conservative morons before here is our proof)
2. The lack of media attention to this “error” (then again, protect your own
3. The AP is the new Fox
4. Foley now conveniently comes “out of the closet” implying that this behavior is somehow linked to his perverted mind.

These were not “clerical” errors. I work at a newspaper and anyone worth their salt has a clue as to what is going on. Hell, you’d better damn well know who you’re talking about or you’ll be out of a job quick.

Another thing I found interesting about the Foley story was that there were supposedly two sets of emails, one less incriminating than the other, and the GOP excuse for not getting rid of Foley was that Hastert had only seen the emails suggesting that the kid remove his underwear, not the ones suggesting he measure his dick. And apparently an emailed suggestion that a minor remove his clothes wasn’t sufficient to replace Foley as head of Child Protection either. Just a harmless drunk heading U.S. Child Protection, no big deal.

They put Donald Rumsfeld, who ignored or fired the generals who told him how many troops and what equipment it would take to win in Iraq (if you want to engage in war-profiteering, you don’t want a quick win, you want an extended conflict that can provide many no-bid defense contracts) in charge of the Defense Department despite his evident lack of support for our troops.
In every instance, the Republicans have appointed heads of federal agencies who opposed the purposes of and were dedicated to destroying the agencies they head.
What would have been surprising is if the head of Child Protection had NOT been a pedophile.
But anyone who thinks that only the Republicans in Congress knew of Foley’s proclivities is fooling themselves. The Democrats work in the same building, and it is impossible for them not to have known. Which may explain why, although they have no difficulty sending me regular fundraising emails, they haven’t sent me a note telling me that they want money to publicize the fact that Foley isn’t a Democrat. He used to be a Democrat, and we have no way of knowing if he was a pedophile before he understood that pedophiles have their own political party, the GOP, or Grand Old Pedophiles.
Florida has some really good candidates like Clint Curtis and Dr. Robert Bowman. If the Republicans don’t steal the election the way they usually do, this can only help the good guys get elected.

I just thought it interesting that this “mistake” was there then, even after Cunningham had been nailed, much like Foley has been identified as a Democrat after he’s been nailed. Theoretically, once you’re in the government, your party affiliation is no longer supposed to matter, Weas, that’s probably why the dot gov site doesn’t mention it. When you’re in office, the people are supposed to be your first concern, over any other consideration.

Regarding “America Deceived” It was NEVER available via Amazon or B&N. It was published via “Fast Track” at iUniverse.com (a subsidiary of B&N, btw) IT WAS NEVER BANNED FROM ANYWHERE
The author choose not to have it released via B&N or Amazon per iUniverse. Political motivation or just a cheapskate? You decide.
If you would like, you can call them yourself and ask. The phone number for iUniverse is 1-800-AUTHORS. No, really, call them and ask if it was ever distributed by Amazon or B&N and they will tell you it wasn’t as it was a “fast Track” publication.
It is the speculation of this commenter that the author of the previous comment is actually the author of the book looking for some easy publicity via blogs. A google search on “America Decieved” will bring up hundreds of very similary comments, but all have the link to iUniverse in them and usually the tag line “Final link (before Google Books bends to gov’t will and drops the title)”.
