For the amount of problems the EAC has faced in its short history one would think that it would be important that the President would fill openings on the commission with people who have experience and who meet the requirements mandated by the Help America Vote Act. In fact the President ignored the HAVA requirements and nominated Caroline Hunter to take the seat being emptied by time-limited Paul DeGregorio. Ms Hunter’s only elections experience was as one of the Bush-Cheney attorneys challenging voters in Ohio in 2004 and she is presently serving as Deputy Director of the Office of Public Liaison at the White House. Newsday correctly asks the Senate to ‘question Hunter closely on her background and make an enlightened decision on whether her experience meets the statute’s requirements’. / The regressive voter ID law in Missouri is being challenged in state supreme court while the Arizona law was blocked in Federal Appeals court. / Newton Co Arkansas has asked the state to allow them to use paper ballots at the polls. They are not confident in the ES&S DREs that have failed them in the past two elections….

On a political talk show this evening it was said the Republicans have nobody clean with whom to replace Hastert and only that is why he’s staying as Speaker.
How is it there are so many cretinous people in America and why are so many of them Republicans?
I wonder, isn’t there a single decent Republican in government who has the guts to talk to the press or the FBI about all the dirt?
This story isn’t getting much traction here, but I think it could be huge:
Alaska Democrats Say 2004 Election Data Was Alteredby Matt Volz, Associated Press
Alaska: 2004 Electronic Election Data Was Changed in 2006by Kay Brown, Alaska Democratic Party
Sorry, here’s the link to the AP story about Alaska election data being altered
I watched Bill Maher tonight and the panel talked about the e-voting problems. The reason it was brought up was because Robin William’s new movie I think its “Man of The Year” is about the electronic voting machines. I almost fell off the couch when I heard the panel discussing it. If you get a chance to watch Real Time, its at the end of the show right after Chris Matthews comes on(wanker). The show was taped in Washington and was one of the best I have seen. Richard Clark was also on, He knows how to speak TRUTH TO POWER!
Caroline is easier to track if you use her hyphenated name, John. Thanks for the update on her
Caroline Critchfield Hunter
Shes just another Republican operative
After two stolen presidential elections, it’s hard to be optimistic about any US election being real. But my hat is off to Brad for hanging in there, making waves about the most practical problem: how to vote the criminals out if our votes aren’t counted?
I hardly ever visit right-wing propaganda, but got curious to see how they’re spinning the unravelling of the GOP pedophile club. I thought some ‘bradbloggers’ might like this USNewsAndWorldReport item about their interview of Howard Dean (they asked him his biggest concern about the upcoming election).
[DEAN]What worries me the most is that [Republicans are] willing to say anything and they’re willing to repeat anything whether it’s true or not. They did it in order to invade Iraq and they’ll do it in order to win elections. And I have some worry about the voting machines. We know that the [direct recording electronic voting machines] don’t work right, the electronic voting machines that don’t have a paper trail. We know they’re corruptible by accident or on purpose, and it’s a major concern.”
Will Americans show as much spine as Mexicans when their election is gamed? Or will they fold up again, like Kerry did?
