Good news for voters and democracy in Missouri!
Bad news for Mark F. “Thor” Hearne II, the democracy-hating, snake-oil selling, high-level GOP/Team Bush operative and the insidiously evil man behind the entire phony disenfranchising Photo ID legislation movement across the entire country through his phony “non-partisan” front group, “American Center for Voting Rights” (ACVR), whom we exposed long ago.
The most satisfying part of this, perhaps, is that “Thor” is from our hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, where’s he’s been pushing his powerful, behind-the-scenes buttons fighting in favor of this crap for years.
On calls and deadlines right now, so can’t give much more info for the moment. Will try to update as needed later…Just out from AP…
A lower judge ruled last month that the ID requirement was an unconstitutional infringement on the fundamental right to vote. The state Supreme Court agreed in a 6-1 unsigned opinion.
…
The court found the requirement violated several provisions in the state constitution. The justices said requiring otherwise legitimate voters to obtain an appropriate ID imposed too great of a burden on their voting rights.

Thor rises…and falls…again. Another victory for the good guys! There are still a few honest judges out there, thank God! Thanks Brad, for helping uncloak “Thor” last year. We may have been born at night, but it wasn’t last night!

Call me an idiot, but is ID required when you register to vote? I recently moved to a new area and they asked for ID when I registered for the primaries last month.
My daughter just registered to vote, she’s 18. She has no photo ID, the only one she would’ve had is a drivers license and she failed her test. So I am directly pissed at “Thor”, because he is saying that my daughter shouldn’t vote!!! So, Thor, my daughter shouldn’t vote? You say??? Who the hell are YOU, to say my daughter shouldn’t vote??? Oh, you’re a Republican…the only party who tries to put up roadblocks to voting.
Oh, and by the way, Thor? I’m not black. I know you REALLY want to go out of your way with this thing, to disenfranchize minorities.
I’d like to “meet” Thor mano-et-mano, and “discuss” with him, why he thinks my daughter shouldn’t get to vote…
“Thor the THUG”,.. is not on Mr. Friedman’s best buddy list that is clearly evident…..

Go get them BF !!!
It’s the Republicans not the Democrats perpetrating 98 % of the election fraud,.. Good Link to Alternet Article on issue too.
Return the favor by Swiftboating this fck to Abu-Gharab for life on the Bushit “suspected Bushit Terrorist” plan. Then tie his un-American neck to a tree without food and water. That should make him hungry for good ole American democracy.
Thank you Bushit administration for being all you can be.

As a believer in election integrety, I can’t help but point out that positive voter identification must be an integral part of certifying voter elligibility.
Considering the amounts of money involved in elections these days, hiring a bunch of uscrupulous people to fraudulently vote isn’t just feasible, but probably also economical (perhaps even outside of Chicago).
In the United States, requiring picture ID in order to vote is, most likely, unconstitutional because it constitutes a poll tax. (Although I’m left wondering if, for example, a felony tax evader could make a case for being allowed to vote in Florida.)
Because this is real life, there is, in fact, no perfectly reliable way to identify voters, or to determine voter eligibility. And, while the constitutionality issue makes things academic in the U.S. vis a vis picture identification, we should ask ourselves how reliable we need voter identification and elligibility mechanisms to be, especially considering the rather narrow margins in many recent elections.
What part of unconstitutional don’t you understand, Noname?
for the love of GAWD, this is one of the most confusing and impossible to read websites I’ve ever seen. Despite it’s seeming abundance of great content, it hurts my eyes to look at it for too long. Good job confusing the hell out of people BradBlog. You’d probably see a significant increase in readership if you let someone with a shred of design experience make your site readable. Argh. Whenever I sent people links to this site they come away frustrated and confused. Dammmmit. It looks like the Green Bay Packers puked all over this site.
Voter ID is a sick joke. A person who casts an illegal ballot has committed a crime. Having to prove that we are legal to vote is asking us to prove ourselves innocent. We should never have to prove ourselves innocent but it is up to others to prove guilt.
Individual voter fraud is like flag burning. Something for people to scream about that doesn’t happen.
Voter suppression and disenfranchisement are a connon technique used by the Republican Party to fraudulently win elections.
See what they pulled in 2004 to steal that election,.. See this link to an extensive list of tricks they employ.
Republican intimidation and suppression of black voters done in 2000,.. 2002,.. 2004 – will they do it again in 2006 ?
