No story there. It's common. When I went to Communist Russia, I came home with two suitcases full of gifts. Russian people love to give gifts. I gave all of my stuff away too - including $4,000 worth of sound equipment, my clothes, including cool glow-in-the-dark underware. All presidents receive gifts. Big deal, who cares. If I was president, McCartney could give me a signed Beatles Hoffner bass and I would say "thanks!"
Prince Abdullah is rich so $100,000 for a diamond is nothing.

Paul,
And if McCartney happened to be the head of a country that turned out 15 of the 19 hijackers responsible for the worst terrorist attack in the history of your country, funded terrorists organizations with millions (billions?) of dollars, and was almost solely responsible for building madrasas whose purpose was to deny the existance of Israel and profane the United States, would you still accept those gifts from Mr. McCartney?
ANSWER: If Mr. McCartney was primarily responsible for the wealth of you, all of your friends and business associates, then I suppose you probably would. Unless you had a sense of ethics and right and wrong and Good versus Evil.

To Paul's earlier point - "Prince Abdullah is rich so $100,000 for a diamond is nothing."
Whether a gift is worth anything to Prince Abdullah is completely beside the point, for several reasons. First, a gift from someone in his position, while not perceived as being valuable to the donor, could be perceived by the recipient as being exceptionally valuable. Secondly, and more importantly, the receipt of such a valuable gift from someone who, as Brad pointed out, hails from a country with nefarious ties, can only serve to deepen the influence this questionable character continues to have over our President.
I don't know about you, but our relationship with the Saudis just plain scares the hell out of me, and I'm sick of being forced to wonder with whom our President's allegience lies - with us (the American Sheeple) or with the Saudi Kingdom...Think about it.
