Seems to me that we’re in this mess to begin with because Americans have been voting stupid for a long time. The media help keep us stupid. Politicians do everything they can to keep us stupid. Most of the truly stupid people don’t vote at all, and the rest vote as they are told, or as their fears and prejudices have been manipulated to make them vote.
The whole goddam thing is a total mess. Let’s try to remember that EVEN hand counted paper ballots isn’t going to fix this. A lot more effort must be put into coming up with good candidates, and that might even mean conscripting them — because, really, how much someone wants the job tends to count against them — and with putting good ballot measures to our vote, or even a perfectly executed and tallied election isn’t going to yield positive results.
This cartoon is usually running alongside Trudeau’s, to provide supposed “balance” to political cartoons…the difference is that Mallard Fillmore stinks…
