It’s now just over a year to the day since we first described the now-disgraced and now-former Congressman Bob Ney (R-OH) as the “Soon-to-be-Indicted Bob Ney” in our exposé connecting the dots between him, his former Chief of Staff turned Diebold’s top lobbyist on Capitol Hill, David DiStefano, Jack Abramoff’s Greenburg Traurig firm and the whole Help America Vote Act (HAVA) sham which Ney pushed through Congress via his crooked chairmanship of the U.S. House Administration Committee.
Back then, few had heard of him. But today, Ney was convicted and sentenced to 30 months in the federal pen after pleading guilty to “illegally accepting trips, meals, drinks, tickets to concerts and sporting events and other items worth tens of thousands of dollars in return for official acts performed for lobbyist Abramoff and his clients.”
Ney’s long-overdue trip up the river comes despite defense pleas for mercy and sentencing to rehab in light of their claims that it was the evil bottle that dunnit. As ever, Ney continues to avoid taking responsibility. Happily, the judge didn’t buy it. Oh, well. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
As a felon, Ney will no longer be able to vote in the state of Ohio, even as America will be stuck with his disastrous and cynical HAVA legislation for years. And despite House Democrats’ plans to remove pensions for convicted members, apparently the action will not be retroactive. So Ney will get to retain his $29,000 annual pension from the House. Forever. Nice work if you can get it.
Anyway, another one bites the dust. Now, about the soon-to-be-indicted George W. Bush…

With people like Ney, Bush, Cheney and the Pukes in congress, we can look forward to a world like this (pure genius)

Are you sure the pension is only $29,000? Seems like with these guys, they would have given themselves a much more golden parachute — like $129,000?
Do ya think Congress can admitt HAVA and the EAC are every bit as corrupted as Ney. We should get rid of electronic voting machines and start prosecuting these companies to get our money and democracy back. Hell maybe now they can see we have a two term unelected president. I’m just hoping there are some uncorrupted intelligence and military people left who will expose the cabal of criminals running our country, and fast before idiot boy attacks Iran.
So, now we can say that a convicted felon rammed e-vote machines down America’s throats. What does that say about e-vote machines?
Justice turns neoCon into neoConvict. It figures.
Next should be Hastert.
Right on DREDD! Hastert makes my skin crawl every time I see the pervert.
Ney deserves more than 30 months for his role as the principal author of the Hoodwink America’s Voters Act (HAVA). Wonder if we could find a federal prosecutor willing to trade a bottom bunk in the big house and three year’s supply of soap-on-a-rope for Ney’s cooperation in getting to the bottom of the HAVA havoc being wrought on democracy these days. (That is, if there’s a federal prosecutor left whose lips aren’t surgically attached to Bush’s anus).
Couldn’t happen to a better person.
A $29,000/yr pension! Sounds cushy doesn’t it? Why with a few more years of Bush, inflation and such, Bob Ney will be doing almost as well as if he had minimum wage job!
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
Psssssssssst…hey Bernie! I think we have some mutual aquaintances in Nashville!
Know any Radical Rebel homeschoolers?
Kestralbrighteyes —
Nashville is a big small town, so it’s highly possible. Email me (tracevu@bellsouth.net) and let me know who you’re thinking about.

YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quite REFRESHING. I,
I THINK
I CAN B R E A T H AGAIN.
Something tells me he won’t have to go through what poor Susan McDougal had to go through, (if fact I’m positive). That was a real American travesty, and the story hasn’t been told yet about the crimes Starr got away with. I guess Bob just wasn’t a big enough fish.
is an interesting take on Ney from Wayne Madsen. (scroll about half way down to sept.24/25 2006. should see a pic of Ney.)According to WM, Ney was an NOC CIA agent(like Valerie Plame) in the late 70’s in Iran and was involved with Iran’s initial nuclear developement which was encouraged by the US. And, says WM, as a congressman Ney served as a “back channel” for the CIA to Iran therefore necessitating his being targeted by Abramoff-money. I’m not suggesting Ney was a good guy in a white hat who made one bad choice (perhaps?), but ya can’t help but wonder – if WM’s account is accurate (BIG IF?).
well the link in 15 above didn’t work, so we’ll do it this way – http://waynemadsenreport.com/2006_09170928.php
I saw a great video of Ney either at the courthouse or jail, taking stuff out of his pants to go through the metal detector.
Do your job, media. Report about how Ney was involved with Abramoff and conspired to wreck our voting system by penning provisions into his HAVA act to prevent even a “paper trail” from making a record of our precious votes. Combine it with this video of Ney being treated like the criminal he is and:
Play it over, and over, and over, and over…
