Meanwhile our dear friends at ACCURATE continue to operate on the assumption that it’s e-voting or no voting… and effectively spent the day telling the House Administration Elections Subcommittee just that.
This particular bit is on source code disclosure… and indicates that ACCURATE believes that, even though security through obscurity is a long-discredited concept, that citizens shouldn’t be allowed access to e-voting machine source code now because all EVM software in current use is so badly written that any disclosure to the public could trigger immediate attacks against the systems before the more overt flaws can be found and fixed…
… but…
… but ACCURATE also thinks it’s a viable option to continue using these admittedly badly flawed systems in secret because otherwise election officials would have to admit to the public that they’ve spent all their money, millions of taxpayer dollars, on worthless electronic crap…
.. and what ACCURATE did not mention to the committee is that by ACCURATE’s own logic the fatal flaws of e-voting can’t be fixed by technology or by new laws.

Wow… Voter ID (with the usual non-existent “Voter Fraud Problem” excuse) turned into a national photo ID with fingerprints and e-voting mandated by law with electronic ballots as a backup for the… electronic ballots. And all e-voting machines wired to national databases to boot.
Ayup… someone’s not been doing their reading 😉
John,
The Florida dems are asking for a special task force to look into Florida election problems:
