   Camp Casey August, 2005 inspired this song “Sons and Daughters” By: Jasse Dyen, Video by: Gordon Soderberg.

   I created this video while thinking about the past two years of volunteering for Camp Casey and Hurricane Katrina Relief. I’ve been wondering what will become of Camp Casey now that it has been sold. I hope that people will Bee Walker will turn it into a space where people can come to learn from each other share their stories and be inspired to be creative and act when it is not the popular thing to do.

   Monuments in my opinion, are stagnant objects that can’t provide for building on the peace movement. Once the war is mover, a monument should be raised to identify the cost of the war and it’s impact on the world. But not until then.

   Cindy raised her voice for peace when it was not popular and inspired me and others to go to New Orleans in September of 2005 to help address the other costs of war. The neglect of our Federal government to protect the people and to provide for a common defense form a natural disaster.

   Now that Cindy is stepping out of the lime light, it is up to us all to think about what we have learned from her. Yes, it is time for all to pick up the torch and carry on. The camp should not stop being a place where voices can be heard and shared when the subject is unpopular. I hope people will come Camp Casey in Crawford Texas to be inspired and empowered to act even when the government will not and the Cameras and press are long gone.

   As the song points out; Why don’t you go? How about your son, how about your daughter? Well we should ask ourselves that same questions with regard to anything we do. We should want to do it because it is the right thing to do.

   Walking the walk and talking the talk should not confined to when it is popular or when the cameras and news makes it so. It should be felt in the heart and inspired by hard work when the opposite it true.

   So, thank you Cindy for inspiring me. I hope this will not be the end of Camp Casey or your participation, but rather, a new beginning that will out last us all.

   Imagine if overwhelmingly fascist internet-neutrality-opposing war-profiteering mainstream media devoted the same kind of attention to the crimes of these democracy-destroying vermin as they have been to Paris Hilton.

   (Now, some trite thoughts: Considering how TV revenue is generated by Ads and how fixatedly Paris Hilton has been featured with stalker-like obsession by the media, they must be making millions on account of her antics. Some of these reappearing faces seem to be paid to bitch about Hilton — they must, in actuality, love her as they go to the bank.)

   imagine if there was no internet … just how much crap would be hidden from mere mortals … the biggest oversight of the current “rulers” is not anticipating the internet and its ability to bring together people to share their information and thoughts .
   “Their” war on the internet has yet to begin and i hope “they” handle it as poorly as “their” current wars .

   Scooter goes down and the law passed by Reagan republicans to be “tough on crime” (the buzzword those daze), ends up denying Scooter his freedom pending appeal to the right-wing DC Circuit Court of Appeals.

    Michael Moore is on the move. On Wednesday, the Academy Award-winning filmmaker will testify on Capitol Hill. He then heads to New Hampshire to challenge presidential candidates, Democrat and Republican, over the nation’s healthcare system.
    His latest documentary SiCKO is being released in thousands of theaters next week. The film is a seething indictment of the US healthcare system.     Yesterday I sat down with Michael Moore at the Tribeca Cinema just after he had done a sneak preview for 9/11 workers who fell ill after working in the toxic environment at Ground Zero. He was then doing a showing for the Center for Justice and Democracy – a tort reform group. I began by asking him what inspired him to make the film.
