‘Daily Voting News’ For February 20, 2008

Today New Jersey media reported that some Sequoia Advantage voting machines used in that state’s primary election on February 5 were not accurately reporting vote totals. The totals found in the memory were not the same as the totals reported on the internal paper-record. According to the media this was found in at least 5 counties. Sequoia tried to pass this off as an anomaly but one official would not accept this minimization of the problem as she corrected Sequoia “Initially, when I called Sequoia they said it was an anomaly. And I said, ‘Excuse me. It’s not. It’s an error,'” she said.

That story, and the other notable voting news items today, all linked below…

Vote J. Rockefeller out of the Senate in November. Go W. Virginia and remove him from office. He wants retroactive immunity for the corporate fascists that violated the 4th Amendment to the US Constitution. Thus, he is unfit to be the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

“I think it’s kind of ironic that the Registrar would say she’s missing the machine because the backlog in counting is unrelated to provisional ballots and to the vote by mail,” Tom Courbat with observer group Save-R-Vote said. “Neither of which has anything to do with the machines.”

    Are you kidding me Baca?
If the Machines were in place then the visual ballots would have started on the 8th instead of the 15th. And we would be done by now.

“It’s because of this some election observers say local election officials may not be ready for November’s presidential vote.”

Screw November…how about the one in June?

How can anyone be a credible source when they only use half the info and half the quotes?

I second that Dredd. There is a dem. in N.C. opposing Dole who would support telecom immunity. Wouldn’t you know Chuck Schummer and the old dems. are supporting her. Jim Hunt, former gov. and current gov. Easely. Another progressive dem. is running against her . Don’t know who is supporting him. In Maine…we had a good but broke dem. opposing Snowe. Clinton came for a fund raiser for the dem. gov. Ignored her. That’s why we have so many horrible dems. in D.C. The Clinton/Rahm Emmanuel/Chuck Schummer wing of the party supports and throws money to repub. lite. I hope they all go down in their next election. And the Clintons go back to wherever they came from.

“OMSMedia” (who is actually Don Haas, brother of failed, former Registrar of Voters Mikel Haas of San Diego, who never met a DRE who didn’t love, and a ballot he didn’t hope to hide from transparency) failed to point out which article he was criticizing.

That said, since it mentions Courbat, I’ll presume it has to do with Riverside, CA.

And therefore, I’ll note that had RoV Barbara Dunmore and the all-Republican Board of Supervisors not wasted $20 million on error prone, hackable DREs over the last few years, they would have had more than enough money to purchase precinct-based op-scan machines long ago, which would have tabulated all the ballots on Election Day, and thus, the provisionals and absentees could have been counted immediately on Election Night.

To paraphrase the pseudonymous “OMSMedia”, how can you be a credible source when you only offer half the info and attempt to mislead readers with your comments?
