A few months ago, I reported on the obit I’d found while in Washington state of a WWII veteran whose last request was to defeat George W. Bush this fall.
Looks like it’s now officially a trend. The obituary of a Wisconsin woman, Jane Buffett, has just done the same:
“Jane was outraged that any politician who would cut back cancer treatment options for Social Security recipients, who would invade a foreign country and then expect her grandchildren to pay the bills, could claim to be a ‘compassionate conservative.’ Once he became the nominee, she saw John Kerry as the candidate who would most conserve everything she valued. Jane fought to live long enough to be able to vote this November. To honor her memory, please do everything you can to elect John Kerry.”
And while researching the story, I came across the story of another woman in Wisconsin who did similarly and who was apparently an inspiration for Ms. Buffett. Sally Baron’s obituary from August of 2003 concluded:
“Memorials in her honor can be made to any organization working for the removal of President Bush.”
Let’s remember to properly honor the dead this November 2nd, shall we?
