“My opponent seems to be willing to say almost anything he thinks will benefit him politically,” he said. “After standing on the stage, after the debates, I made it very plain we will not have an all-volunteer army.” — George W. Bush, Oct 16, 2004
Yup. He actually said it.
And in the same way he’s told us over and over that Kerry “would require a permission slip from the U.N. before defending America”, I believe Bush meant it.
Seriously, look at the picture, isn’t there something wrong this guy?

Ever seen Awakenings? Nero does a great job as a guy who just isn’t all there. Bush looks just like Nero did in that role.
Though I believe you meant DeNiro in the comment above, your typo is probably more accurate.
(Nero is the Roman Emporer famous for having "fiddled while Rome burned".)
Maybe he had the stroke during the seven minutes he sat with the children on 9/11.
Again, utterly unprovable. But shouldn’t we expect more? Paul, any thoughts here? Shouldn’t we expect more?
Moses and Claudias I had speech impediments. Bush meant "we will have a all-volunteer army" but must have also been thinking "we will not have a draft." We know what he means and what Congress voted down.
This draft business is just to scare young folks into voting for Kerry. It may work! This is one of the lies from the Dems that really ticks me off.
Perhaps if Bush hadn’t lied to America on just about every issue since 9/11 I might also be enraged with you. Since he has, I’d say the chances he’ll find that order ‘on someone else’s desk’ somewhat probable.
The American people are not idiots Paul, and demand better. One week more!
Oh, and Bush didn’t have a speech impediment 10 years ago. Shouldn’t we expect more?
