'Non-Partisan' Republican Front Group, American Center for Voting Rights Releases Report, Six Press Releases Focusing on Democratic 'Election Fraud'
Massive Republican Voter Disenfranchisement Virtually Unmentioned, Phony Quotes by 'Democrat' Used in Releases

In a massive new attempt today to disinform the American Voting Public and sidetrack the true bi-partisan Election Reform movement in this country, the phony "voting rights" group --- calling themselves deceptively "American Center for Voting Rights" (ACVR) --- issued a new report today charging that Democrats were "Far More Involved In Voter Intimidation And Suppression In 2004."

{UPDATE 5/15/07: Since the ACVR has now disappeared from view in the wake of the U.S. Attorney purge, and their website has been taken off line, the report referenced above is now available here via the Internet archives instead. For the historical record.}

Five different heavily Democratic-leaning cities were cited in each of six different Press Releases issued at once via US Newswire within the last hour as being amongst the "top Election Fraud Hotspots" in the country. The sixth Press Release was focused on pushing the ACVR propaganda claim: "Democrat Operatives Far More Involved In Voter Intimidation, Suppression In 2004".

The deceptively-self-described "non-partisan" ACVR, as previously exposed in a series of exclusive articles on The BRAD BLOG, is a Republican front group created by high-level GOP operatives expressly for the purpose of spreading disinformation to sidetrack the Election Reform movement in this country.

Both of ACVR's main players continue to be tied to the upper echelons of the GOP and are longtime Republican partisan operatives. Executive Director Mark F. "Thor" Hearne, has been a backroom player for years in the Missouri and national GOP parties and was most recently the National General Counsel for Bush/Cheney '04 Inc. Their Press Spokesman Jim Dyke was the RNC Communications Director during the 2004 election responsible for arranging to have operatives dress up in "Flipper" costumes at John Kerry election events.

Though they claim to be "non-partisan" and enjoy tax-exempt status as a 501(c)3 organization, they have never shared their 501(c)3 paperwork with The BRAD BLOG as requested (and as they had promised many months ago) despite what we understand is a legal requirement to do so.

Hearne was called to testify as an "expert witness" at a House Administrative Committee Hearing on the Ohio election just days after the creation of the phony group. The ACVR was the only such "Voting Rights" group called to participate in the hearings. Hearne misrepresented himself at those hearings only as a "longtime voting rights advocate," saying nothing about his ties to Bush/Cheney and the Republican Party. The hearings were chaired by Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH), who is himself now under investigation for various alleged ethics violations.

We're on the move today, so haven't yet gotten to plow through the ACVR's full report, but in an onslaught of Press Releases today, the ACVR is clearly attempting to get the message out that it's Democrats, not Republicans, who primarily engage in "Election Fraud".

Ironically, they identify "non-partisan" (yes, they use the quotes!) groups such as ACORN as inappropriately registering Democratic voters. And though the ACVR report is identified in each of the Press Releases as "the most comprehensive and authoritative review of the facts surrounding allegations of vote fraud, intimidation and suppression made during the 2004 presidential election" there are no references to the thousands of well-known allegations of Republican intimidation and vote-suppression around the country or the Voter Registration forms collected and destroyed by groups tied to Republican Operative Nathan Sproul and Associates. Those registration forms --- from Democratic voters only --- were alleged to have been shredded in key swing states including Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Oregon and Nevada.

This article from Boston University's Daily Free Press, amongst many others, details the many charges against Sproul and Associates and the phony "non-partisan" Voter Registration groups he set up around the country. Sproul was paid millions by Team Bush and attempted to hide it according to the Baltimore Chronicle and several other reports, and is the subject of a criminal investigation related to these matters in the state of Oregon. Much more on Sproul & Associates is available here.

No reference to Sproul or the many dirty tricks said to have been conducted by groups he organized are mentioned in any of the ACVR Press Releases today.

One new tactic of the ACVR's revealed in the flurry of Press Releases, is the addition of quotes from "ACVR Legislative Fund board member" Brian Lunde who was a DNC Executive Director at one point apparently. Press Reports, however, reveal Lunde as having worked closely with Bush Political Operative, Karl Rove and having represented several big business organizations which are supportive of Bush Administration initiatives.

The Press Releases, one each for the five so-called "Election Fraud 'Hot Spot'" cities, each quote Lunde as saying the same thing, but change the city referred to by Lunde in the quote.

For example, in the Release on St. Louis, claimed the "No. 3 Election Fraud 'Hot Spot'", Lunde is quoted as saying:

"Election after election, political parties, election officials and the news media act surprised when fraud, intimidation and suppression activities occur. Now everyone is on notice that there's a problem in the St. Louis area and those who don't participate in a solution will be held accountable," said Brian Lunde, ACVR Legislative Fund board member.

The city is then replaced in the Press Release on Seattle, claiming the city to be the "No. 3 Election Fraud 'Hot Spot' in America":

"Election after election, political parties, election officials and the news media act surprised when fraud, intimidation and suppression activities occur. Now everyone is on notice that there's a problem in Seattle and those who don't participate in a solution will be held accountable," said Brian Lunde, ACVR Legislative Fund board member.

The other three Press Releases referring to the top "Election Fraud 'Hot Spots'" have the same quote from Lunde, changed only to refer to the city in question: Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Cleveland.

A Washington Post article from 2003 identified Lunde as working closely with Bush political director/operative Rove:

For many on the list, the Rove connection is a mutually beneficial two-way street. Brian Lunde, former executive director of the Democratic National Committee and one of the few Democrats on the list, helped the Bush 2000 campaign round up Democratic supporters.

After Bush took office, Lunde has recommended Democrats for White House appointments, especially in cases requiring selections from both parties. During consideration of trade proposals and protective measures for the steel industry, Lunde could suggest to Rove potential Democratic supporters, which, in turn, advanced the interests of such Lunde clients as the Business Roundtable and Nucor Steel, which backed the administration initiatives.

As mentioned, because we are traveling this afternoon, we've not yet had time to try and reach Lunde for comment. However, Dyke's phone number is given on each press release as 843-532-1192 for those who may have any questions.

The ACVR's homepage where their report, and several other pages of appalling disinformation is available is at www.AC4VR.com.

This Saturday is the 40th anniversary of the landmark Voting Rights Act. No doubt, today's reports and press releases were meant to coincide and continue the gross insult that the American Center for Voting Rights represents to the true Voting Rights activists in this country, many of whom have given their lives in support of such rights over the past century.

For more information on the "non-partisan" tax-exempt ACVR scam and the snakeoil salesmen who invented it, Bush/Cheney '04 National General Counsel Mark F. "Thor" Hearne and RNC Communications Director Jim Dyke, please see BRAD BLOG's full Special Coverage of the "American Center for Voting Rights" at http://www.BradBlog.com/ACVR.

Can't we use their report for fuel?

I mean wouldn't their claims justify the US Counts Votes Act proposed by Hillary Clinton and John Kerry as much as our claims would?

Surely republicans would not balk at an oppertunity to stop Democratic Fraud.....hehehehehe

Just maybe AVCR is attempting to further justify the need for National Voter ID --- which will more than likely be a recommendation of the Baker-Carter Election Coverup Commission, and ultimately what will follow is lame legislation requiring them. Just one more barrier put in place with an intent to disenfranchise.

Damn Joe Voters, gotta watch every move they make, huh? Ain't nothing but a bunch of lying cheats! ;-)

Seriously, most voters know that it's against the law to vote twice, or to vote when dead or not legally registered, and they don't do it. I suppose one way around the majority of voters obeying the law is to make it more difficult for them to vote, which used to be against the law. Just wait 'til those centralized voter registration lists are unleashed on the country in January '06!

Political parties need to start looking at voters as actual people and not just a number in a magical equation that in the end amounts to a hollow victory by candidates without a clue of what it means to be an elected representative of the people.

Very insightful comment above...

If the MSM covers the ACVR press releases, it would prove beyond a doubt that the MSM is beholden to the GOP, because of the way the MSM blacked-out all the voter fraud stories that made the GOP look bad.

Let's check out the MSM, and see if the ACVR news is covered by them.

I don't have to tell you, the conclusion you should draw. It would blow out of the water, those who say the MSM is covering pop-stars and entertainment...the conclusion would be beyond that: They've become an arm of the GOP!

Well, let's just see...mediamatters is set up to do investigative MSM comparisions, like this...I hope they do it. MediaMatters should compare MSM coverage of Ohio Vote fraud & Clint Curtis vs. ACVR press release coverage.

Let's think of what ACVR stands for.

I say American Citizens' Vote Ruination.

Charlie,

When **Archibald Cox** was issuing out indictments and the court was in full conviction mode, several reporters got the inside scoop from individuals in that room. They ran with that story.

The beginning was labeled as a disaffected group of moonbats, crazy "conspiracy theorists" who come out with garbage stories all the time.

Official status of many citizens was changed to "enemy".

Then not shortly after, in that same timeframe, **Watergate** broke out proving that they had told the truth and several members including Donald Sargetti went down hard.

It's always a good point to remember what history has lauded...

Listen to the radio interview.

A **truebill** means the indictments are issued before the Jury and placed in sealed envelopes. No one can see the indictments after the truebill is issued, besides those who are directly present.

That is why Fitzgerald is the final authority on whether indictments are issued....And if he has already issued the truebill, then "no comment" would mean that they aren't going to leak out information that could tip off the white house.

**You could take it to mean that indictments have been issued**

Until all dots are lined up they will not take action, because there is alot of problems going on behind the scenes with attempted assassinations....Its like the mafia, once you corner them they go ballistic.

SIGH.

OK. The thing is, a lot of what this new "ACVR" says is probably true so far as it goes. Seattle DOES have a vote fraud issue for damnsure, probably St. Louis (I've heard rumors anyways, but haven't looked into it personally), etc.

BUT ignoring the "GOP-connected fraud" is...well, it's the biggest fraud of all.

Now, to some degree the Democrats commit the same sin, in that any discussion of Democrat-connected fraud gets you attacked from their end. A giant onslaught of smear against Bev Harris and BlackBoxVoting started around the same time we pointed out some Democrat ills. And it's not just us - other activists who have pointed out some Dem fraud have been attacked from the left.

Which one is doing it more? Republicans at the moment. No question. And I'm saying that AS a Republican myself...I damned well don't like saying it.

But the fraud IS a non-partisan issue, it IS being committed by both parties to at least some degree and if one side keeps it up long enough the other will try and "counter fraud" and then it all spirals into the eventual toilet of civil war.

(Note that there is FAR less of an impression of "central organization" to the fraud on the Dem side than the GOP. Fraud in Ohio in particular appears to have been centrally managed statewide, I'm not aware of that happening on the Dem side to that obvious a degree...although...Illinois sometimes has a bad odor...)

Anyways. BlackBoxVoting really is non-partisan and will remain that way. Bev herself is a decline-to-state leaning towards progressive, the board is a mix, I think we've got one Peace'n'Freedom but I'm not certain. NONE of it matters in terms of policies or investigations or news releases.

And no election reform org without a similar policy can be trusted, from any part of the political spectrum.

I've been thinking about something for a while and thought that some of you might want to help me formulate this idea better. I have been reading the Kevin Trudeau book about natural cures and he says somthing that really rang a bell regarding the fact that IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY and how the FDA and the FTC control the info passed along to us about high priced drugs vs herbs, which cannot be patented. He says that they control what the media present to us in the way of turning press releases by the drug companies into news stories, and because so many people stand to make so much money from a particular drug, the info about herbs that really cure many of the diseases today is being squelched in the media because nobody can make any money with these. What is reported to us in the news is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. So, I started putting 2 and 2 together.

We know that the same thing is happening with the GOP and the MSM. The big GOP-leaning corporations are supporting the news organizations and the reports we get from the MSM is slanted to those who pay them the most. That's why we'll probably hear about this bogus group and their phoney claims before we hear about the REAL election fraud. The amount of this influence has been staggering and I don't think I would have believed it could happen in this country if we didn't experience so much of it since the election! Like the rest of the 6 or 7 of us, I want to shout it from the rooftops to get the word out there, but like the rest of you, I can't do this alone.

Back to Trudeau, though - he says he's mad as hell and he's not going to take it anymore - that's how we all feel about the lack of reporting the truth and the dirty tricks of Rove and Co. - they are very evidently at play in this case! But we don't have the bucks to overcome the financial influence on the MSM by the corporations - they're too entrenched in influencing the media (just like the FDA and FTC that anger Trudeau).

But, as individuals, we DO have the power to influence and this is where I need us all to put on our thinking caps - we CAN influence the media by OUR buying power and if we all organize together, I think we can make a difference and maybe even turn the tides.

It IS all about the money. We have the power through boycotting to get to where it hurts the media the most - in advertising dollars. If they have to make a choice about reporting the real news or the falsehoods of phoney groups supported by their croneys, we can make a CONCERTED effort to threaten to boycot companies that pay for advertising on the MSM. Anybody have any ideas about how to go about this and how to get our 6 or 7 to make a difference with the MSM by boycotting their advertisers?

Thanks for listening.

You are very right, no doubt....

How about we all cancel cable TV....wait no football.

How about we buy the Fox Blocker, and at least block out FOX one of the biggest culprits of misinformation.

What about boycotting the companies that advertise on the programs misinforming America. You get a few million people to pledge not to buy from those companies.....posted on a website....email to the activist....money starts talking in terms of millions of people.

Great idea....but the energy required to start such a huge plan would far outweigh the benifits....I think it is to late for that and our energy would be better spent focusing on the corrupt Bush & Co.

However if someone else were to organize and start something similar to that or not even but with the same end in sight...fucking the Big Contributors of misinformation.... ;) I would gladly sign on and participate...

I found this via a site supporting Tim Kaine for VA gov,
here. Looks like Kaine supports Hackett, and included some interesting words from "A blogger in Ohio":

--------------------------which are:

As one Ohio blog puts it:

However this turns out today, Hackett’s campaign has given 2006 Democrats an effective blueprint–anti-war, anti-corruption, anti-stupid; pro individual freedom, pro shared responsibility, pro smart, strong defense; and maybe most important, strong netroots support ( the DCCC didn’t even know this race was going on until the blogs got excited about it ) . If Hackett comes within five points of Schmidt, it’s a proven blueprint. If he wins in the OH-2, it’s the Holy Grail.

-------------

Interesting about the blog power, eh?

The wcpo site has votes ~49% Schmidt, ~51% Hackett, reporting about 25,000 votes.

GOD DAMN IT>>>>

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....much better...........aahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Yes the computer hacking, how could I forget... Anyone see the story about the Hacking contest they had in Vegas on ATM's. Like voting machines are real tough. Democrats just need to find a good hacker.

Dredd, thank you for the kind words.

Valley Girl: rather than "lemon law", the term you're looking for is "consumer protection law" or "taxpayer suit" - it's the idea that as taxpayers, we can sue to get the gov't a refund on bad or fraudulent goods of any sort, including voting machines. The "legalese" term is a "Qui Tam" or "whistleblower" suit.

That's exactly what Bev and I tried to do. And we succeeded to a very small degree, got California $2.6mil back and we each collected a "bounty" of $76k...note that the suit started before there was such a thing as Black Box Voting the non-profit org.

We were stopped by *Democrat* California Attorney General Bill Lockyer. Unfortunately in these Qui Tam actions, the government can delay the hell out of the thing (Lockyer stalled about...God, 10 months before allowing it's existence to go public, and THEN he settled it out from under us for peanuts without our consent AND without doing discovery! Understand, we were ready to "tear shit up" in discovery, we knew all kinds of cool questions to ask Diebold and were drooling at the chance.

If Lockyer hadn't shot it all down, at a minimum we would have gotten Alameda County a refund of $14mil (Bev and I each collecting $910,000) or if it had expanded statewide, a total refund of about $105mil (Bev and I scoring $6,825,000) and if you think I ain't royally pissed off about THAT!!!

:D

Heh. Oh well. Guess I'm not fated to get rich :) .

(Look, sorry if this comes across as crass, I gotta keep my sense of humor here esp. with tomorrow's arraignment. If I was REALLY all that concerned about cash I wouldn't have brought Bev into the suit first thing back in Oct. '03 when it started with a lawyer coming to ME. Besides, I'm a "gun nut" remember, I *really* gotta keep my sense of humor :D .)

Anyways. Why did Lockyer torpedo it? Damned if I know. One possibility: if Diebold's full set of sins ever sees public light, it raises the next major question: how in GOD'S NAME did the Federal oversight process (NASED, test labs like Wyle and Ciber) ever approve this junk?

And that question in turn throws all of HAVA into question along with the entire top-to-bottom electronic voting infrastructure and industry, along with every politicritter who supported it.

Thanks for your work, Jim. One of the most puzzling things about the election issues seems to be that the Dems are less interested in it than the Pubs. We may have to renew both parties if we are to have any hope for remotely honest and sincere politics in the future.

Hi, Charlie: We need a recount in Hamilton, don't you think?? Are the Repub hackers slowing the count in Clermont? See how confident I am in American elections???

Thanks for all of the information, and the education. Since you took Amtrack to SD, and and based on much more I heard listening to you on the BradShow, I believe you when you say you're not in it for the $$$$. I haven't lived in CA for many years, but the rest of my family does, and I was CA born and bred. I will check out Bill Lockyer.

And, I hope you will keep us posted on your arraignment. A sense of humor does go a long way in helping one survive these times.

I've been trying to take screen shots, as you suggested, but there are plenty of gaps. Looks like it's down to Clermont County, at least in the "official" tally.

Let me know here, or via Brad, if you need the shots I've compiled.

Guess Blackwell is busy with his two-way internet connection to the computerized vote tallying...let's hope he and his goons make a major mistake.

Valley Girl:

It may be neccesary to give them to Jim March and the lawyers for analysis.....

http://www.clermontelect...esults&topic=current

Clermont County website is completely down.... **Hacked** I should say, and people have called the director who stated the "voting machines were slowing down alot because of humidity"

Yeah right! They're committing election fraud in Clermont and Hamilton, just because they know those places could be safe....

Someone get out the lawsuits and **paper ballot counts** !!

Hey, I can't deny having a million or more to play with wouldn't be FUN :) . But yeah, this is SO not about the money. Never was. The extreme short form was that in having both political activism and computer experience, and seeing something SO rotten going on...I...well, I had to jump in, y'know?

It's been one hell of a ride :) .

And it's not like I haven't been messed with by Republicans so far. Bruce McPherson's secretary wanted to have my bike towed! Buell S3, used but in good shape sportbike. Dunno why...it was parked out in front of the Secretary of State's office while a Diebold-related meeting was going on, with my name on it, "Paid For By Liebold" on both sides of the gas tank and a big sign above saying "THIS SHOULD BE THE LAST HIGH-RISK EXPENDITURE OF DIEBOLD-RELATED ASSETS".

One of the security guards warned me they were coming for it and I got it outta there. Somebody couldn't take a joke  .

($76k ain't "getting rich" but you CAN sure have some fun with it...)

Doug Eldritch: COMPUTERS DON'T SLOW DOWN BECAUSE OF HUMIDITY. They flat-out crash but they don't "slow down".

They "slow down" when there's EXTRA GODDAMN CODE RUNNING ON 'EM! That's why spyware/adware/etc. are so damn annoying.

"Slowing down". GrrrrrARF!

It is pretty interesting that it seems the hard core Pub counties are coming in last and slow at that. It might make a person think that they were waiting to see how many votes they needed.

You just need to cut the telephone lines going into the Clermont voting stations. That should stop the hacking, shouldn't it????? Or are they doing it from inside the voting stations?

**All**

We caught them!

http://www.cincynation.com

"Couldn't quite hack the results" right, so they blamed the machines for being malfunctions...

So they are counting by hand all ballots, forced to count every single ballot in remaining 91 precincts and other by hand!!!!

Watch for ballot stuffing, contact every observor you know, and tell people to go vote and get counted!

Exit polls? Fat chance...

They can only use sheriffs and computer experts to observe how they are counting the ballots....

Someone tried to pull a fast one....Oh this is getting interesting.
