Powerful Republican Who Once Ran with Jeb Bush and Worked for a Company That Harbored Chinese Spies, Calls for a More 'Balanced' Relationship While Travelling Abroad

Rep. Tom Feeney (R-FL) continues to carry water for his Communist Chinese friends. Even while the media hasn't stopped for a moment to question Feeney's years-long effort at protecting a Florida software company which harbored and employed a convicted Chinese spy. The company, Yang Enterprises Inc. (YEI) continues to lie about that employment.

As an illegal alien in 2004, Hai Lin "Henry" Nee, who worked for years for the company, plead guilty to charges related to three counts of attempting to send Hellfire Anti-Tank Missile chips illegally to China. Stunningly, Nee received only three-years probation and a $100 fine for the crime, even after admitting that he and a partner had sent such shipments "10 to 20 times over the past year" to China. The convictions were the result of a four-year sting effort by the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.

Feeney himself worked as general counsel and registered lobbyist for YEI even while he was the powerful Speaker of the Florida Legislature back in 2000. The conflicts of interest there are mind-blowing. He now sits on the U.S. House Judiciary Committee.

The BRAD BLOG originally took notice of Feeney when we first broke explosive allegations about Feeney and YEI, as made by computer programmer Clint Curtis. Curtis, who first reported all of these matters to Florida's Inspector General back in 2001, alleged in a sworn affidavit [PDF] that Feeney had asked him to create a vote-rigging software prototype while they both worked for YEI. Curtis, who had been a Republican at the time, later gave video-taped testimony under oath to members of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee of the allegations. He later passed a polygraph test confirming the veracity of his charges against Feeney and YEI.

As a report from Reuters today reveals, Feeney is currently in the Communist nation as part of a "congressional US-China Working Group", where he is advocating for a "more 'balanced' discussion about relations with China." A quote below, from Reuters' story, reports Feeney's support for expanding China's space program.

The story fails, of course, to mention Feeney's personal relationship to NASA, which is based in his home state of Florida. As well, NASA is a client of YEI's and, as far as we know, Feeney's wife still works for the space agency, as do many of YEI's employees.

Here's some earlier BRAD BLOG reporting, which links to several of our stories exposing the corrupt congressman's dubious connections to Chinese spying and his activities on behalf of the company, which has apparently been harboring at least one such spy for many years.

And here's the quote from the Reuters story [emphasis added]:

On Tuesday, a U.S. senator on a separate visit to Beijing, Max Baucus, said resentment in Congress about China's $200 billion trade surplus with the United States may prompt lawmakers to pass legislation threatening to punish China unless Beijing revalues the yuan and so makes Chinese exports more expensive.

The other three visiting congressman are members of a congressional U.S.-China Working Group, which advocates more "balanced" discussion about relations with China.

[Mark] Kirk [(R-IL)] said during their six-day visit in Beijing that began on Monday that China's repeated promises to post an intellectual property ombudsman in Washington to take complaints from U.S. businesses, as well as to spend $250 million on legitimate software for government offices.

Tom Feeney, a Republican congressman from Florida, said the lawmakers also discussed expanded cooperation in space, including a proposal for China to engineer the entry docks of its manned spacecraft so they could dock with U.S. and Russian craft, allowing for cooperation in space rescues.

You should contact Lou Dobbs with the Feeney story. He hates hates hates Communist China and would probably give a decent amount of exposure to it.

Yeah, just ban scottfromca.

I emailed Lou Dobbs and used the words "Communist China" at least 8 times, that should get his attention. And the NSA's.

Q: How do people like Feeney get re-elected?

Damn,

I think I need to make a spread sheet or flow chart to keep track of all these scums and how they all relate to each other. I'm beginning to get confused with who did what when with whom!

The only thing clear is they are doing it to us!

Feeney is impossible to explain in rational terms. If he were a liberal Democrat, lobbying for a Chinese firm that employed a spy convicted of espionage, the Republicans and Fox Network would be calling for his scalp.

Instead he holds cocktail parties in Washington to celebrate the retirement of Dan Rather.

Feeney ran unopposed last time. I think guys like him get re-elected because the people who run against them are immediately labeled "liberals." And they spend the entire campaign running away from the label, while the "conservative" incumbents pretend to represent family values, or some dopey line of shit like that.

It works, especially in places where folks don't read books much, or think much, and who rely on a preacher man who warns them against "Godless" people who promote gay marriage and want to take away their hunting rifles.. Using fear and negativism toward "liberals," an incumbent doesn't even have to be honest in the Bible belt.

not only that, RLM (#10), but by FL state law, an unopposed incumbent's name is not put on the ballot at all. .. because if he's running unopposed, where's the need, right? oops! except for those voters who might wish to write in a candidate for that for office! gee, it's only the House of Representatives!

i seeeem to remember... although i'm not entirely sure so don't quote me on this (and don't have time to look for it right now)... that this particular statute is a fairly new addition to FL election law, passed just in time to help keep Mr. Feeney's name off the ballot in a recent election, thus his position in the House was quite secure.

if i am correct, that's remarkable timing, no?

not on the ballot, so no need to campaign --- so pass that money on to your fellow Repubs.

Re Post 11

Hey rocket scientist, you just now figured that out. Florida and Texas is the place Bushitas go to test just how much shit they can get away with. So far in FL, they've gotten away with it all. They've tried it all here. Faith based, school vouchers, Terrri Schaivo and the infamous stolen sElection.

Jebbie's time is almost up due to term limits. Neo-Con Gallager will be replacing him. So, the beat goes on.

Feeney's district is filled with military types, lots of flag waving and family values blah blah blah. The uber red part of Florida. It's where old soldiers go to die.

His local paper ratted him out totally and he still got re-elected. This is Bush country baby! Learn it, live it.
(Not S fl. We've had Randi Rhodes far to long to fall for any Bushista bullcrap).

I'm in ... how 'bout you Clint?

The word is getting out, against all neoCon efforts, about the fact that the Abramoff Scandal is a republican affair (link here).

Has anyone asked Clint Curtis if he'd be willing to run? Let's not start raising money unless he's agreeable; the same money could be used to keep Bradblog going.

I'd go to Florida and work for the Curtis campaign if he'd say yes. Just imagine the look on Feeney's face when a reporter asked, "Would you be willing to take a lie detector test about Mr. Curtis' allegations, too?" Just imagine Jeb Bush trying to distance himself from Feeney and not calling attention to the fact that the recent Diebold test in Leon County forced him to shed crocodile tears over the safety of election machines. Just imagine all those sunshine patriots in Florida trying to figure out why their incumbent representative lobbied for a firm that employed a Chinese spy. Just imagine if an investigative journalist used the campaign as an excuse to probe into Ray Lemme's death.

RLM #22

Ouch! Hot!

I think Clint is a simple and decent guy who could take Feeney out ... American Style (not Chinese Communist Mafia style). I think the conservative element will vote against the republican majority in congress because of the non-partisan concept of accountability.

As we have explored in past years here, Florida is a hotbed of Chinese spying, and the neoCons have only slapped them on the wrists. Feeney actually defended them and the company harboring them.

Big story there ... being ignored by the presstitutes in the MSM.

If Clint were to run, his campaign would serve the same purpose that Brad's linkage of Abramoff and Ney to Diebold and election fraud serves. It would force the mainstream media to "go there."

As long as election fraud is a stand-alone issue, the press and TV will ignore it at the direction of their corporate-controlled bosses. But if it's part of something else the media can't avoid (Abramoff, a Congressional election, the class-action suits against Diebold), then the truth will out once and for all.

What do you say, Clint?

China and India have signed an agreement, brought about by peak oil realities (link here).

"China and India, the world’s two fastest growing energy consumers, on Thursday set aside long-standing rivalries and agreed to co-operate in securing crude oil resources overseas" (link here, emphasis added).

Feeney is not the type of guy to further the US interests, and it shows.

It's a nightmare scenario, as follows:

1) China and India, both oil-dependent countries, increase their purchases from Iran.

2) Iran uses the proceeds to build up its nuclear capabilities, without agreeing to inspections that would reveal whether they were building energy plants or a nuclear bomb.

3) The United States, failing to enlist the cooperation of China and India, invades Iran to defuse their nuclear capabilities.

4) China, as a means of protest against our action, places a "market order" to sell every U.S. Treasury security it owns.

5) The bond market collapses.

6) The stock market collapses in response to the bond market.

7) The cost of new borrowing to the U.S. Treasury triples, which doubles the budget deficit when added to the incremental cost of the Iran invasion.

8) Chiang-kai-shek's grand-nephew announces his candidacy for president of the United States, on a platform of restoring Taiwan to its rightful place as China. His running mate is David Eisenhower, who is forced to repudiate his father-in-law's recognition of Communist China.

9) David and Julie Eisenhower agree to a divorce.

10) Julie becomes Communist China's ambassador to its satellite, the United States of America.

VotersUnite.org's Daily Voting News 'Daily Voting News'
For December 04, 2008

by John Gideon

The Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA) was signed into law in Oct. 2002. Amongst other things HAVA required the formation of the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) and provided some mandates, in Title III of the law, for federal elections including some standards for voting systems. Those standards include, but are not limited to, accessibility for voters with disabilities and accuracy in the vote count. Testing by experts in accessibility has shown that none of the Direct Recording Electronic (DRE, usually touch-screen) voting systems presently in use meet the requirements for accessibility for disabled voters. Failures in testing and vote counting in real elections have also proven that, at times, the voting systems presently being used across the country do not meet the federally mandated requirements for accuracy.

So what guidance has been provided by the EAC to the states with regards to Title III? Well, actually none. In fact even though voting systems presently in use do not meet federal law the EAC is just now getting around to issuing guidance to state and local election officials and, according to the draft of the plan ‘featured’ below, it is going to take another two years before the EAC can complete the guidance.

Why can’t they just tell the vendors and the states that the law is clear and, if they fail to follow that law, violations will be referred to the DoJ? The fact that the vendors misrepresent their products as being accessible is a clear violation of the law. It is time they are held responsible and it doesn’t take two years of studying Title III of HAVA to make that clear....
