Our minute-by-minute coverage of events last night as they happened is here. Our discussion of the unequal treatment Sheehan was given compared to a Republican Congressman's wife last night is here.

They let us keep our freedom of speech because it is such an effective way to identify dissenters.

Okay, here ya go.

Notice especially the part that defines "demonstration activity" specifically says it does not include wearing of t-shirts.

So we're addicted to oil, guess who's the pusher?? Al Gore had more concern for our country and the environment in his speech a couple weeks ago, than was expressed by our impostor prez. Confidence, trust, and faith have to be earned and gw fails again!

Anybody who thinks this was "an accident" or "we screwed up" is an absolute idiot. When are you gonna stop believing shit like that???

9/11 was an accident, too. We accept too easily, when people say, "we screwed up". We let them go, even if they knowingly and premeditatedly did it.

Cindy Sheehan should be in prison right now for her disruptive crimes. In times of terror, America must stand strong against those who do not respect the nation or support the truths such as Sheehan.

For Big Dan: "We screwed up" is Rightwingspeak for "We've tried hard to come up with something to justify arresting Cindy Sheehan, but nothing will fly at this point, especially since we were forced to evict Mrs. Young as well, and her husband is really pissed off, so to shut him up we have say, 'We screwed up.'"

If Cindy's lawsuit is certifiied, part of the discovery process can become finding out who spread the lie that she was trying to put up a banner. It could be germaine to the extent that it speaks to a possible motivation behind Cindy's arrest, i.e., not a simple mistake ("We screwed up"), rather "We tried hard to nail this troublemaker, but nothing worked." In other words, a deliberate attempt to violate her civil rights, which I believe is worth about ten years making license plates for whoever ordered it.

"America must stand strong against those who do not respect the nation"

Exactly.

Which is why we here think that bush/cheney/rice/rove/rummy et al should be in jail for creating more terrorists, fanning anti-Americanism, spending America's money in Iraq instead of in America, appointing incompetent cronies to agencies assigned to protect us, breaking the FISA law, outing Valerie Plame, rigging elections, failing to arm their own troops, buying propaganda, attempting to bribe a member of Congress, putting the country in hock to foreign governments, and lying the country into a war of aggression, and that's the short list.

They don't have a shred of respect for the nation or for the truth. Not a bloody fucking shred.

Right on, Joan. People like "Bob" in #15 speak the truth without realizing what they're saying. "Those who don't respect the nation" are the same people who defy the Constitution. Why? Because it's the bedrock of the nation. You bet. Thanks, Bob, for the civics lesson.

But who is it that doesn't respect the Constitution? It sure as hell isn't Cindy Sheehan. Anyone can wear a T-shirt. Nor is it Mrs. Young from Florida. It's people who try to make a crime out of legal protest who don't respect the nation. And, they're the same people who don't respect other nations, either...in fact, they invade them without provocation and under false pretenses.

VotersUnite.org's Daily Voting News 'Daily Voting News'
For December 04, 2008

by John Gideon

The Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA) was signed into law in Oct. 2002. Amongst other things HAVA required the formation of the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) and provided some mandates, in Title III of the law, for federal elections including some standards for voting systems. Those standards include, but are not limited to, accessibility for voters with disabilities and accuracy in the vote count. Testing by experts in accessibility has shown that none of the Direct Recording Electronic (DRE, usually touch-screen) voting systems presently in use meet the requirements for accessibility for disabled voters. Failures in testing and vote counting in real elections have also proven that, at times, the voting systems presently being used across the country do not meet the federally mandated requirements for accuracy.

So what guidance has been provided by the EAC to the states with regards to Title III? Well, actually none. In fact even though voting systems presently in use do not meet federal law the EAC is just now getting around to issuing guidance to state and local election officials and, according to the draft of the plan ‘featured’ below, it is going to take another two years before the EAC can complete the guidance.

Why can’t they just tell the vendors and the states that the law is clear and, if they fail to follow that law, violations will be referred to the DoJ? The fact that the vendors misrepresent their products as being accessible is a clear violation of the law. It is time they are held responsible and it doesn’t take two years of studying Title III of HAVA to make that clear....
