Today a federal court told New York state to present a HAVA plan by April 10. The court also found that intervention of LWV, NYVV and others would not be allowed. Essentially the court found in favor of chaos. Meanwhile the disaster in Illinois is continuing with thousands of votes still to be counted. Sequoia has done a good job of deflecting the machine failures into personnel errors and 'glitches'. At the same time election officials are saying that Sequoia should have to pay for the myriad equipment failures. The editorials and articles coming from Maryland are all pointed toward the state changing their voting system now....

The November elections look like a fiasco of failing machines. On purpose. There seems to be a concerted effort to produce chaos and confusion, fear and doubt.

John Dean may have provided a reason. He says the White House is now working day and night to bring up some "October surprise":

"The big question is whether there will be an October Surprise - a dramatic event that will bump up Bush's currently dismal polling numbers, and help his party.

Right now, Republican friends tell me they are doing all they can to keep the mid-terms from being a referendum on Bush.

They know they have a better chance if they focus on local races - absent an October Surprise.

If you have any knowledge of how White Houses operate, you can be sure they are working night and day to pull off such a surprise.

If they do it, Bush will get away with his lawlessness. If not, he and Cheney are in for two very bad years. They have earned them" (link here, bold added).

The article linked to in post #1 shows that this regime is willing to use the military within the US (NSA is military) to spy on Americans.

And it shows congress is doing little if anything to stem the tide of lawbreaking.

It is not too much of a stretch, then, since the regime is getting away with it, to consider other usages of the data gathered by NSA massive spy ops.

One use of the data is psyops (Psychological operations) to control what Americans think.

After all, the regime has admitted publicly to having paid journalists with taxpayer money to write stories to try and convince Americans of the government position. Paid propaganda.

Since most people are infected with the fear of conspiracy theories virus, I will cite to a link that shows the military has text books and manuals on how to psychologically control (link here).

    One quote (from zillions):

"This paper will examine the evolution of how the U.S. Government and the Department of Defense have organized to conduct strategic influence as an instrument of national power, from the Psychological Warfare Division of World War II, through the Psychological Strategy Board and Operations Coordinating Board of the early Cold War, through the Vietnam years to today. Are they organized effectively today to meet the asymmetric threats of the 21st Century?" (bold added).

The bottom line of all such efforts is a goal of having the people forget that they, the people, are the government and that those in offices are there to serve, not to control.

Next the goals of psyops is to have the people trust the people they voted into the government offices. "Trust us" is a faith based government. "We have you best interests in mind and know how to take care of you better than you do" is the mantra.

All this election machine fiasco and noise is discouraging and damaging to confidence. They want is to think that "if local officials are allowing the heartbeat of democracy to go into the chaos of malfunction, the next place to look for safety is the federal government".

If you look closely, you can see psyops at work in the MSM, TV programming, and in the movies. And here and on other blogs.

We are under an barrage of psyop attacks, subtly designed to move opinion from point A to point B. Even US News and World Report has a glimpse into it (link here).

And may I add, people will have a hard time digesting this, for the simple reason it's been done to them their entire lives, a parallel reality if you will
My thing has always been, if they keep the rabble fighting amongst themselves, it is so much easier for them to fatten their wallets

Dredd I found the article that explains all the crap I was looking at here
I'll probably convert to anarchism after reading all this stuff (whew)
Makes a person lose faith in the system he thought existed before
But it is real interesting and once I got sucked in, I have to know now
And by reading it you understand why "they" will never let a populist or independant in the white house, without, at minimum, rebellion

And THATS exactly why NOBODY is bringing up the voting machine problem at the Federal level

VotersUnite.org's Daily Voting News 'Daily Voting News'
    For December 04, 2008

    by John Gideon

The Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA) was signed into law in Oct. 2002. Amongst other things HAVA required the formation of the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) and provided some mandates, in Title III of the law, for federal elections including some standards for voting systems. Those standards include, but are not limited to, accessibility for voters with disabilities and accuracy in the vote count. Testing by experts in accessibility has shown that none of the Direct Recording Electronic (DRE, usually touch-screen) voting systems presently in use meet the requirements for accessibility for disabled voters. Failures in testing and vote counting in real elections have also proven that, at times, the voting systems presently being used across the country do not meet the federally mandated requirements for accuracy.

So what guidance has been provided by the EAC to the states with regards to Title III? Well, actually none. In fact even though voting systems presently in use do not meet federal law the EAC is just now getting around to issuing guidance to state and local election officials and, according to the draft of the plan ‘featured’ below, it is going to take another two years before the EAC can complete the guidance.

Why can’t they just tell the vendors and the states that the law is clear and, if they fail to follow that law, violations will be referred to the DoJ? The fact that the vendors misrepresent their products as being accessible is a clear violation of the law. It is time they are held responsible and it doesn’t take two years of studying Title III of HAVA to make that clear....
