In order to claim the homestead exemption she had to vote in FLA, even though the state allows dual residency. Where you vote is considered your primary residence.

One need not vote, or even be registered to vote in Florida in order to decalre homestead exemption. I believe if you google "Palm Beach County Property Appraiser", you will find their website which list the qualifications for declaring homestead in Palm Beach County. This is soooo simple, it's stoopid. The gal was trying to get in under the wire for tax purposes. She wanted to be legally considered a Florida resident as to avoid paying New York State taxes. Unfortunately, she left a paper trail a mile long attesting to the fact that she lives in, and works out of New York. She's nailed.

Ann Coulter is not licenced to practice in Florida, but she IS licenced to practice law in New York. She could face discipline in New York for her acts in Florida, under sec. 1200.3 NYCRR, perhaps whether or not she is ever convicted of anything.
