If Rove thinks the Democrats will win 8-10 seats in the House, we're talking about a landslide victory.
Rove and Bush just don't want the country to know how terrified they really are.

When I read this yesterday I thought- "Sumbitch, Rove and Bush are much more in the frontline of the voter fraud than I thought". I've always assumed it was backroom operatives running this deal- Abarmoff, Noe, Ney, but now I'm wondering if the top cheese (and I mean no disrespct to the dairy industry), is fully behind the vote flipping, HAVA crap. Look it- if the dems come within a few seats of winning, this will smell like 2004 all over again. Is there enough of an awareness out there this time for the media to hear us cry foul?

Try this on for size:
Rove knows his employer is about to bid farewell. What does he care if they win or lose? Let the knuckle-dragger think everything is okay. After all, they have two more years to recover from an ugly mid-term--plenty of time to crucify the incoming crew of Dems. Dems will implode and/or fail miserably in their efforts to clean-up the gigantic mess the President has made. Maybe by then we will be committed to another war effort. How could they possibly get out from under that? All Rove and Bush have to do for the next two years is pot-shot the Dems. No consequences for lighting fires all over the place, sowing discontent, marshaling anti-Hillary sentiment. For the Dems to threaten Bush, they have to go all the way: impeachment or prison time. That isn't going to happen, is it? Will we pull out of Iraq (codeword: re-deploy)? Not quickly. It will take more than a year unless the insurgents begin to overwhelm us.Will there be an investigation of Republicans? No and even if there were one, it would also take about a year to complete and the Justice Dept would be hostile to it anyway.
I am not sure I would be smiling if I were Rove, but I would not feel too badly if the midterms weren't a huge success. They are running out the clock with a four-corner offense.

I think the thing that we all fear is here now.
Rove knows the fix is in, despite all of our best efforts over the last two years. If you read the WaPo article, it says that Rove is indicating that there will be a much bigger than expected Repub turnout.
Yeah, riiiight. Far right...
A much bigger than expected vote theft is what's actually coming. It's almost here. Yes there will be a train wreck of "glitches," which we all know are really SNAFUs (situation normal, all f***ed up...); but there will more importantly be full use of hackable voting machines.
And where will the weird vote #s come from? From all the usual places; but look at the totals in the small counties that have been, say, 45% Gore, yet 40% Kerry. Now they'll come in at something like 25% Dem. All over America. Anywhere there is no paper ballot and anywhere there is a "paper ballot" that they can game in such a way that the "ballots" are never actually counted, like, say, in the CA-50th...
Be very afraid. Does anybody know what we can do?

I hope that is the reason for the face. A third could be he just put in a signing statement on a bill saying he does not have to accept the results of an election.

It's all about what I think of as Rove's Plan B. It's about the timing of Bush and Cheney's resignation in relation to the Presidential Order of Succession.
If the Republicans lose the House and Senate in November, they still have control until January (when the Democrates take office). If it's a given that the Democrates will investigate and pursue impeachemnt of Bush and Cheney, then both will have to resign BEFORE January. If they both resign House Speaker Hastert (or probably his quickly appointed successor) will become Presient for the next two years - and 'for the good of the country, yadda yadda yadda," will pardon Bush and Cheney.
After Hastert, the order of succession runs to President pro tempore of the Senate, and then Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
So if Rove is smiling . . . . . .
By the same reasoning, if the Republicans lose and do nothing prior to January, after Bush/Cheney's impeachment/resignation the Democratic Speaker of the House will become President. And if this is the case, the 2008 election will have it's new twist.
Am I on track here???

I dunno, but I am concerned...Rove and Bush were terribly "upbeat and confident" during the 2004 elections...Kerry was winning..and then, just like that, the votes "flipped" in the middle of the night, to favor Bush...and remember, these voting machines are still owned and operated by those who owned and operated them in 2004...if it happens again...will the people say..."Well I guess the Demcratic message just wasn't clear enough again?" Here's why Bush & Rove are so confident: They only need to steal THREE of the nine critical Senate races.
WINNING THE SENATE: A MONTE CARLO SIMULATION ANALYSIS
1000 simulated trial elections
Based on Senate Polls as of Oct.14
KEEP AN EYE ON THESE 9 CRITICAL RACES:
NJ, TN, VA, MO are KEY!

The Democrats need to win 7 of the 9 for a 51-49 majority.
IF THE ELECTION WERE HELD TODAY, THEN BASED ON THE LATEST POLLS:
The probability is 55% that the Democrats will win at least SEVEN of the nine, assuming ZERO fraud.
The probability is 99.8% the Democrats will win at least SIX for a 50/50 TIE, assuming ZERO fraud.

Here's why Bush & Rove are so confident: They only need to steal from 5 to 20 critical Congressional House races, depending on the trend as we approach Election Day. Right now, the Democrats have the Big MO, so they may very well need to steal close to 20.
It's just three weeks until the election, so this post will need to be updated as the polls change. For this analysis, I assume that the election is today.
There are many who now believe the media hype that the Dems may very well sweep Congress. Their lead in the Generic House polls is over 10% and the trend is positive. They have won EVERY ONE OF THE NEAR 100 Generic polls taken over the past year.
http://www.progressivein...um=120&topic_id=3213
So we can confidently assume that the Democrats will get the most votes. But how many will be lost, spoiled or switched to the GOP? In the past three elections, the RECORDED vote differed from the TRUE vote. Why assume that this won't happen again?
These are the current media projections, based on the latest polls:
Senate: 50 Democrats, 49 Republicans, 1 tie
House: 226 Democrats, 205 Republicans, 4 Ties
Looks good, right? Well, yes, but...
The projections fail to account for:
1)UNCOUNTED BALLOTS: an election tradition of spoiled and lost votes, 75% of them Democratic.
2)HACKABLE VOTING MACHINES: Proven by Johns Hopkins, Princeton, Hursti, etc.
3)CENTRAL TABULATORS: untraceable electronic votes switched in cyberspace.
4)DISENFRANCHISEMENT: new Voter ID requirements, lost registration forms, etc.
There are currently 31 GOP House seats in play.
Categorizing the races:
1) Democrats lead in 9 BEYOND the margin of error
2) Democrats lead in 7 WITHIN the MoE
3) THREE races are TIED
4) Republicans lead in 12
For this analysis, we will assume that the the actual winners in categories 1 and 4 match the polls. So the Democrats NEED to win at least SIX races from categories 2 and 3 in order to gain control. THAT'S THE RUB.
If the election were held today, the probability that the GOP would win at least 1 of the 9 in which the Democratic lead EXCEEDS the 3% polling MoE is 20%; the probability they would win at least 2 is just 2%.
Let's assume the GOP won't win or steal ANY of these seats; it would be too obvious if they tried. Therefore, the best projection estimate is: Dems will win all 9 seats in which they are leading beyond the margin of error.
But the Dems need to win 15 GOP seats to gain control of the House, assuming they keep ALL of their current seats. What's to stop the GOP from stealing 5 of the 10 seats in which the Democratic lead is within the MoE (7 seats) or in which they are tied (3 seats)? That's all the GOP would need to win a one-seat House majority.
So right now, based on the latest polls, it would not take much for the election to be stolen, maybe 5-10 races. If the Democratic lead widens before election day, and the number of leads beyond the MoE grows, it would mean the GOP would have to steal more elections, maybe 10-20. Then it would become obvious that fraud has occurred once again.
A Monte Carlo Simulation analysis of 1000 trial elections was run to determine the probability of the Democrats winning the House (win a minimum of 15 GOP seats). The simulation was based on the probabilities of the Democrats winning each of the 31 GOP seats. The simulation produced a very high (99.6%) probability that the Democrats will gain control of the House (by winning at least N=15 of the 31 elections).
The probability is very low (7%) that they will win at least N=20 seats.
ASSUMING NO FRAUD, these are the probabilities of the Democrats winning from 15 to 20 seats.
...PROB
N WIN>=N
15 99.6%
16 97%
17 83%
18 54%
19 25%
20 7%
Note that the polls and associated probabilities do not factor in spoiled and lost votes (mostly democratic) which occur in EVERY election. This suggests that the net Democratic lead may be 1% LOWER than the polls suggest. On the other hand, the undecided vote (currently 5%) usually splits in favor of the challenger - in this case, the Democrat. So we may have a wash here.
I hope I'm wrong and fraud will not be a factor in this election. I want to see the Dems win big. But we all know what happened in the last three elections, don't we? The motivation to steal it is just as powerful, if not more so, then it was in 2000,2002,2004. BushCo will do ANYTHING NECESSARY TO STAY IN POWER.
The data source for the "House Forecast Update" is:
http://www.mydd.com/story/2006/10/12/14357/845
Note that the word FRAUD is not mentioned once in the OP or the 50+ comments. It's as if there is ZERO probability of vote-switching or spoiled, uncounted Democratic votes.

#2. It is also clear that the "Fix is in"
What I want to know is what are we going to do about it? Nothing what so ever like in 2000-02'&04'?
Or will there EVER be a point to where at least 1/3rd of this country will stand up and TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK?
This Nov is it for my wife & I, we have decided that IF Rethuglicans are allowed to remain in power through blatant and obvious election fraud with ZERO American uprising, nobody going "Mexican" on them of which we both will gleefully join in anytime anywhere.
Then that is it for us, soon as we can manage to sell our house, and my wife's retirement situated, then we are outa here.

It's what I've been saying for years...the GOP steals just enough to keep a majority. They can't have 100-0 in the Senate, etc...or it would be obvious!!! They steal key, close races!!! It's exactly what they will do, can we identify them and beat them to the punch??? Why can't we publish, "THE GOP IS GOING TO STEAL THESE RACES: _________________________" WHY CAN'T WE DO THAT????? As Brad alluded to in this post, I believe that the Rove/Republican “strategy” to steal the midterms is unfolding at this very moment. Last June Mimi Kennedy pointed out at the Townhall meetings in LA and Oceanside, how Republican spinmeisters tried to rationalize, after the fact, Bilbray’s late success in overcoming Busby’s apparent lead via a commentary in the LA Times titled, “The GOP knows you don't like anchovies” by Peter Wallsten and Tom Hamburger. Today in the LA Times comes an article titled "GOP on a Mission to Save Santorum" that, in my opinion, encodes part of the Republican “strategy” to steal upcoming races and maintain their majorities.
I believe that if the voters in this country were truly given an opportunity to express their will in the upcoming midterms, the Republican majorities in both houses would be obliterated. This is becoming so obvious that it will make it more difficult for Rove, et al, to rationalize the outcomes when they steal the elections in November. But, unfortunately, I believe they WILL steal enough elections to hold their majority. Besides their usual dirty tricks to disenfranchise mainly Democratic voters, I think they will accomplish this in the following manner:
-numerous stories in print and broadcast media about their get out the vote efforts, their corralling the Christian Right Vote (despite evidence like this that would suggest that might be more difficult than previously), and their shifting of resources to a few critical races, like Santorum’s.
-stealing only enough elections to just barely maintain their Congressional and Senate majorities. Such a close call will be easier to explain in the aftermath when many question how the Republicans were able to “save the day” and maintain their majorities (however slight) when all the polls, scandals and sentiment suggested that would be next to impossible.
-putting their efforts, money and criminal enterprises into stealing the elections for staunch ideologues, like Santorum, who has closed the gap vs. Casey in recent polls and is a "true believer" (AKA useful idiot) who they can always count on to support the mischief of this administration.
-stealing votes mainly in States and localities that use touchscreen voting systems without adequate voter verified papertrails (if “adequate voter verified papertrail” does not constitute an oxymoron).
I’d love to hear why I am wrong about any of the above or if you can add to my rationale in this comment.

And who's the "bad guy", Mrs. Sherwood? Your 2-timing mistress choking "Republican family values" husband? Or bystander Chris Carney???

Carney's up by double-digits in that one, I don't see it here. A HUGE HUGE seat change in a seat that was forever Republican Sherwood's...he owns Sherwood Chevrolet in Tunkhannock Pa....hmmmm, what do you get when you cross a "used car salesman" with a politician? A mistress choking 2-timing family-values adulterer who pays off his mistress $5.5 million dollars "settlement" and drags his victim wife into the campaign....instead of stepping down...

Bush and Rove really do not care about others. They have achieved their goal to line the pockets of their supporters thereby ensuring their financial future. I have no prediction but I would be surprised if the BCFOL could cheat on a scale required to flip 2006.

Bush will leave office in January 2009 unscathed because he will always have 34 votes in the Senate. However, I believe that we should prosecute him and his cohorts after 2009 for his horrendous crimes including mass-murder/genocide in Iraq.
Bush does not care how history will view him. He only cares about his wealth that will be protected by his "all hat" base. The only real punishment for him is a prison term.

Yup, #44, Bush has made his money and he doesn't care, but all the other guys on his gravy train most definately care; and they'll be glad to throw the elections for the Pubs...
An '09 prosicution is a good idea, but as long as they steal elections, it can't happen.
The wild card is, do the anti-Bushers have anybody who'll join in the hack-fest???

THE FIX IS IN!! DO NOT DOUBT IT
THERE IS A MASSIVE EFFORT A-FOOT TO EXPOSE THE FIX.
IF EVERYONE PARTICIPATES IN THE VISUAL EXIT POLL PROJECT, IT WILL BE CLEAR TO ALL AMERICANS THAT THERE IS FRAUD.
http://www.myspace.com/committed2freedom
After you vote, display a red dot or a blue dot on your shirt or hat or wearever(on top of or next to the "I Voted" sticker seems to be a good place). The color of the dot should reflect the party you voted for Senator or House. Red Dots for Republican and Blue Dots for Democrat.
Wear your DOT until the outcome is indisputable
If everyone wears their vote, it becomes obvious just by looking around who truly won the precinct election. By wearing the vote, we have the opportunity to participate in a visual exit poll and certify first hand the accuracy of the official election results.
IT'S YOUR VOTE! CHECK IT! MAKE SURE IT COUNTS!
DISPLAY IT PROUDLY TO YOUR FELLOW CITIZENS.

If they are upbeat. Then they are good actors. Because if the people of the united states of america only knew the filthy war-profiteering crap they are pulling at the expense of their children's lives, they would revolt immediatly.

How about we force the stop of work on the street on the phone lines out in front of the polling places? I think that would be a lot more productive. Than some half cracked blue dot, red dot.
And then you threaten the MSM, e.g. abc, cbs, nbc, pbs, and fox to either only report on PAPER VALIDATED RESULTS or we start a non-stop street protest to file complaints on their frequency renewal on their public file.
Okay I suck at english. Really bad. Let the english folks or lawyers straighten my language.

are the electronic machines (I often use the word "diebold" for electronic) self powered?
No? I didn't think so.
Think power distrobution/supply.
Disclaim: I am not suggesting, hacking, cracking, or civil violence, but frankly people are only going to take so much more of this shit.

JUDGE OF JUDGES:
Bush didn't need no stinking bill to torture people anyway. America has become a travesty.
Thanks for showing me where I can find Mike Malloy on the 30th!

Good analysis, Truthisall. MyDD is either clueless, dismissive, or in denial about Rethuglican election theft. I tried to bring up the issue there and nearly all of my comments were subsquently deleted. They thought Kerry was going to win in '04 (of course he *would* have won had there been a clean election), and they have evidently learned nothing from that experience.

Another thing that worries me along with the unseemly upbeatness is all this hype about the GOP's ability to "get out the vote at the last minute and turn around the election" crap. Yup it's miraculous all right. It's a sure sign they're getting ready to cheat.
