Michael McManus, conservative author of the syndicated column “Ethics & Religion,” received $10,000 to promote a marriage initiative.
Three weeks ago we found out that Armstrong Williams had sold his honor for $240,000. Wednesday it was revealed that Maggie Gallagher had sold hers for a mere $21,000. And now it’s Mister Ethics & Religion himself, and the price was a measly ten grand. It’s like an auction in reverse. How low will they stoop? Stay tuned.
You can read the entire Salon piece here, although you have to register or watch a short ad in order to do so. You can also find a related blog item from Winter Patriot and that’s here. Maybe it’s not brilliant, but at least it’s short, and no registration or ad-watching is required! [ahem]. And if you want to enjoy the fruits of your ten thousand tax dollars, you can start here.
Also of note: I found out about the Salon piece through Russ Kick’s fine blog, The Memory Blog, which serves as a companion to his fabulous site, The Memory Hole. Russ is a bit of a stickler about knowledge and information. He doesn’t like to see it go missing. So whenever he gets his hands on a document, or a set of documents, that’s being hidden [or in danger of being hidden], he posts it at The Memory Hole. And whenever he learns about these kinds of things, he posts blog items about them at The Memory Blog. I have both sites bookmarked [hint, hint!] and I visit them regularly [hint, hint!].
The Memory Hole became something of a story when Russ obtained and posted a set of photos the Pentagon doesn’t want us to see. But it’s been good for a long time, and there is plenty of interesting reading to be found there. [hint, hint!]
Have fun at The Memory Blog, but don’t disappear down The Memory Hole!! And please don’t swallow too much of that good old “Ethics & Religion”.

Another good one Winter Patriot.
Ethics is to bushit as news is to MSM as "freedom" at the end of a gun is to demockracy.
The best "demockracy" oil money can buy.
I suggest everyone e-mail him at:
michaeljmcmanus@marriagesavers.org
and the other two we know about, and the rest we will soon learn of, to say, "shame on you" and ask for a refund.
Fantastic. Who says totalitarianism and its propaganda mills are impossible in America in 2005?
Just to refresh my revulsion, I turned last night to some Third Reich history and confirmed for myself that the process and rhetoric of the two ascendancies (H’s and *’s) are virtually identical. Happy day! Sweet dreams!
Winter Patriot, thanks for the links. They are [hint, hint] duly bookmarked.
Now we know: the MSM is so quiet about election fraud because they are "getting paid".
Some people sell their soul, if they have one, for $240,000 and others for $10,000.
The big problem is that, attached to their soul, they are selling cheap our country.
IMHO all the "reporters" are now suspects, we only need to know their "price".
NewYorker #4. So true.
The MSM has not told us about so many alarming behind the scenes dangers we face. I think Brad said "we must be the media now".
With that in mind, and not having accepted any money from anyone, anywhere, or anytime to distort, here is a link concerning the Chief Justice’s recent report on the judiciary.
The author was Nixon’s counsel (what torture advocate Gonzales is to Bush), who went to jail for Watergate issues before the politicians and MSM did away with accountability.
He is reformed enough now that I read his articles from time to time. One reason is that he knows how the neocons think and HOW VERY DANGEROUS they really are. They are fascists.
He points out that the Chief Justice is very, very concerned. We have not seen anything yet, and the Chief Justice knows it.
The article also reveals more of what I have been advocating here from time to time. That we need to reach, align with, and not alienate the non-fascists in the republican party.
Dean uses the terms "reactionary conservatives" and "radical conservatives" to describe important distinctions. We can do business with the "reactionary conservatives" only for the purpose of keeping the fascist "radical conservatives" at bay.
We fail to keep the radical fascists at bay at our peril.
Read it and let us know your thoughts.
Michael Moore held an online conference. He was asked how the MSM could be changed:
Ruben P.: Right now, most networks in the USA seem rather.. biased. Insufficient or incorrect information is given a lot of times, How can that ever be changed?
Michael Moore : It can be changed by people constantly exposing their lies and half truths – their biases. It can also be changed by people creating their own media by using the net to share information with each other.

Tonight I was watching that show on tv where stars are eating dinner and discussing things, their movies, etc. Alec Baldwin was on this particular show and he actually used "corporate" when talking about the press. I think he said "corporate media". How great! I’m not sure of his exact words. Did anyone else see that show?
The media has always been based on sensationalism, exaggeration, scare tactics, and extreme manufactured drama. They love blood, screams, and torture. If you are not watching and just listening for a moment, you would be shocked at the level of hysteria that is constantly maintained.
If we concerned citizens on the Internet can avoid this kind of behavior and devote ourselves completely to the sharing of factual information and a genuine search for the truth in a real effort to improve our society, we will have a great advantage.
Let them have their entertainment. We can continue on our path and people will come when they are ready.
Didn’t see it, but apologies if this has been posted already.

There has been some propaganda in Iraq too. Allawi as a matter of practice hands out cash during his news conferences to the Iraqi press.
This article probably explains not only where he gets the money, but why he gets good press like Bush does.
